Nurse Jackie is back on Showtime tonight at 9p. She is still clean and sober, but that doesn’t mean the show is any less good. In fact this is the first season of the show that I actually enjoyed and couldn’t wait for the next episode and the one after that. In fact I watched all 10 episode of season 5 I was given in a day because I was that addicted to it.
Now that Nurse Jackie (Edie Falco) is sober, she has to figure out how to raise her kids as a single mom as she runs the nurses in the ER. Her soon-to-be ex-husband Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) is not making their divorce or getting custody of her kids easy. And her daughters are not going to make her life easy either because that is just what kids do. One of her friends will be leaving her and that will be hard on her. Plus she is going to start dating (Adam Ferrera) and he is pretty darn near perfect. Can she make that last or will she screw it up?
Then there is work. There is a new head doctor of the ER, Dr. Ike Prentiss (Morris Cheastnut), he is ex-military with trauma experience. He is really good at what he does and he is also really abrupt with everyone. Zoey (Merritt Wever) moves out, finds some independence and gets some something something! Coop (Peter Facinelli) will meet his match in an intern and she will have him by the balls. And of course there will be a lot of patients with a lot of interesting reasons why they are there. There will be birth, there will be death and everything in between.
And through all of this, Jackie will try to remain sober. Will she be able to do it or will she go back to her old ways? You just have to tune in to find out in what I think is the show’s best season yet.
