For 30 years we have wondered what could kill Jason Vorhees and now we know. Last year Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes destroyed the classic horror franchise by remaking Friday the 13th and then said they would make a sequel to the remake. Well yesterday the movie’s producer Brad Fuller responded to a Tweet by Mayroth_Tucker3 “Hows the F13 sequel coming along?” by saying, “it is dead- not happening.” He then went on to Tweet, “i am fighting for it, and have been- i love that movie, but right now- there isnt any movement.” and “i simply can’t get one made right now.” and “its not my call- i would drop everything and make it today if they wanted it.” and finally when asked why it is dead he Tweeted “it is a long story-”
Well I for one am elated by the news because I am sick of Platinum Dunes destroying my classic horror movies like F13, Nightmare on Elm Street and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so I am glad they are not able to make the sequels. Maybe they are having financial woes and will go away! Not only have they remade the above, but they have also threatened to do the same with The Birds and Rosemary’s Baby. Thankfully they went the same way Friday the 13th 2 2.0 went…and died!
I have to admit I checked out Friday the 13th 2.0 and even Jared Padelecki couldn’t make that piece of sh!t watchable to me, so I am even happier the sequel isn’t happening.
I am all for Friday the 13th sequel because the original franchise promised us 13 movies and they have only done 10. The thing that made those movies fun is not only were they slasher flicks, but the deaths were funny. In the crappy remake, they took the deaths seriously and that is not what those awesome 80’s slasher flicks were all about. C’mon what other movie can have Jason kill a guy on a roof in NYC when the guy says to “Hit me with your best shot” so Jay-Jay-Jay-Son-Son-Son punches him in the head and his head goes flying off the roof. I can go on, but you get the point.
So I have 4 words for the person who killed this movie…Thank you very much!!!
