Mel Gibson’s arraignment on misdemeanor drunken driving charges was advanced to Thursday, the district attorney’s office said.A judge granted a request made by Gibson’s attorney, said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for Los Angeles County prosecutors. The time of the arraignment in Malibu Superior Court was not immediately known.Gibson did not have to appear, but the judge may have requested him to show up, Robison said.The 50-year-old actor-director was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while having a 0.08 percent or higher blood-alcohol level, and possessing an open container of alcohol while driving.Arraignment was originally set for Sept. 28. Gibson, who was stopped around 2:30 a.m. on July 28 while driving on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, made anti-Semitic remarks to the arresting deputy. He later apologized for what he called "belligerent behavior" and "despicable" remarks.
