February 4th, 2013 under How I Met Your Mother

Last week it was announced that How I Met Your Mother would be back for a final season in the fall and as the show wraps up so will some of the sitcom’s biggest character themes that have played out for almost 9 years. Tonight at 8p on CBS we will most likely say goodbye to one of them, so get your tissues ready for Robin Sparkles’ encore. Although show creator Craig Thomas said she could come back one more time before the show ends.
Tonight we will see Robin Sparkles do the full Alanis Morrisette as she goes from pop star to man hating rocker. It is the darkest she has been. Thomas would neither confirm or deny that Dave Coulier is the reason why she has crossed over to the dark side, but he will definitely be referenced. There was one thing he did confirm about the latest Sparkles’ video, he said “It is completely crazy. It may be the craziest Robin Sparkles yet.” Cobie Smulders who plays her said it is Sparkles catchiest song since Let’s Go to the Mall. After listening to P.S. I Love You, I have to say I agree with her and I am sure you will too.
Thomas also said that, “This episode takes How I Met Your Mother’s Canada fetish to whole new heights.” What did he mean by that? Well several Canadians like Alan Thicke, Jason Priestley, Paul Shaffer, Alex Trebek, K.D. Lang, Steven Page, Geddy Lee and Luc Robitaille are all guest starring in the episode. The only one not partaking in the fun is Crash Test Dummies Brad Roberts, who the HIMYM casting department couldn’t find. But they find the robot, so that is an excellent thing!
So now that Robin Sparkles is going into retirement, will Smulders record an album at some point? She said “I would never find myself in a recording studio at any other time in my life.” Then she added, “I won’t. It’s just not going to happen. I don’t sing that well.” I think she does, but then again who hasn’t wanted to be Robin Sparkles? So tune in tonight to see the new and improved(?) Robin Sparkles.

Then at 8:30p Rules of Engagement is back on CBS. The show that the network’s Yes, Dear proves why it just won’t die. During tonight’s season premiere Liz moves in Audrey and Jeff and she will cause a lot of problems for the couple. But not as bad as the problems Russell will cause for Adam and Jennifer. Did I mention that Russell will come between them in the bedroom? It is something you don’t want to miss, so don’t!
