We all grew up with the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. Well, there is a tortoise at the Adventure Valley Park in Brasside, Durham, UK, that could’ve won that race even if the hare didn’t take a nap. Bertie is so fast, he is now in the new edition of the Guinness Book of World Records for Fastest Tortoise in the World. How fast is he? He sprinted a 5.48m course set at a gradient of 1:12 in a speedy 19.59 seconds, destroying the record that had been held since 1977.
Proving once again that slow and steady still wins the race. Although this race took over 38 years to win.
BTW Bertie is a real pisser! Especially, when he gets so excited about getting his certificate for being the World’s Fastest Tortoise that he pees on his owner.
