Staged musicals are no longer just for the stage. Thanks to Disney+ streaming Hamilton and Trevor the Musical, Apple TV+ sharing Come From Away with us, and Netflix thinking we wanted to see Diana: The Musical.
Well, The Roku Channel, which got an Emmy nomination for Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas, wants to stay and get into the musical business so that they will be debuting Heathers: The Musical on September 16th.
The West End production is based on the 1989 movie that starred Shannen Doherty and Christain Slater.
Let’s just hope they have better luck airing their take on Heathers than the Paramount Channel that never got to air the TV series based on the movie due to school shootings.
