Back when Hugh Jackman was a young lad, he heard Whitney Houston sing I’ll Always Love You. At the end of the song, he heard something that convinced him that she was singing to the future Showman.
What is it? He hears the late singer belt out, “I’ll always love Hugh.” Do you hear it too? Or do you think Carly Simon wrote a song about him instead of Mick Jagger and Warren Beatty?
Before Whitney Houston was hoping for her big break as a singer, she got her acting break on Gimme a Break. You can tell the 20-year-old was going to be a star as she made her acting debut back in 1984?
Kari Michaelsen, who played Katie, wrote this about Houston, “Fun Clip of Whitney Houston and me opening a Boutique together on Gimme a Break in an Episode called ‘Katie’s Corner’ … Whitney, Thinking of you today ❤️ Your Light and Spirit continues to inspire me, and you are always in my heart.”
Tonight at 9p on Lifetime we get to see how The Houstons are trying to move on without Whitney Houston. The Houstons On Our Own takes place 3 months after the songstress died and Bobbi Kristina is trying to deal with the loss of her mother. The 19 year is dating her BFF Nick Gordon, who Whitney took in and raised like one of her own, and her aunt and uncle (Gary and Pat) don’t approve of him. Wait until she tells them that they are engaged?
For Mother’s Day The Houstons will travel from Atlanta to NY to see the matriarch Cissy and Krissy will visit her mother’s grave for the first time since the funeral.
It is an emotional episode as we see The Houstons now without out their shining star.
The trailer for Whitney Houston’s last film Sparkle is out and the Today Show had the first look at it this morning. To me it is the same old, same old. Seriously haven’t we seen that movie before and I am not talking about the original Sparkle?
This is not meant to sound as cold as it probably will, but who thinks the movie would be getting as much press now or do as well if she were still alive? Were you planning to go see when it comes out in August before she passed away?
Hell to the No. Whitney Houston has passed away today at the age of just 48 according to TMZ. At this time the cause of death is unknown.
I remember a story that Billy Joel once told at a concert I saw him at years ago. Back when Whitney Houston was a teen and a model, he saw her performing at a piano and she told him something along the lines, “I am going to be a singer. I am going to be star!” And he was like, “Yeah, right kid.” He looked back at the incident was like boy was I an idiot for not believing in her.
She not only became a star, she became a superstar. Not only for her music, but also for her acting in the films The Bodyguard and The Preacher’s Wife. She had just finished shooting Sparkle, so we will see her on the big screen one last time in August.
Whitney’s untimely death is also a little bit sadder because yesterday The Hollywood Reporter was saying she was being considered for a judge on The X Factor, something that could’ve turned her life and career around.
My heart goes out to her 18 year old daughter Bobbi Kristina that she had with Bobby Brown. No one should lose their mother at such a young age.
Even though her voice has been silenced, it will live on like her notes did on her songs like I Will Always Love and Didn’t We Almost Have it All. Such a powerful voice to be taken away so young, but we can keep it going by listening to her music that has touched us at some point in our lives. So right now honor her by listening to one of her many hits and sing along because you know every word to her songs because we have all heard them so many times.
