Actor Val Kilmer sits in a treehouse to forget about Hollywood. The ‘Batman Forever’ star has revealed he likes to escape to his play house in the branches, at his ranch home in northern New Mexico, because he can be completely alone. He told America’s USA Today newspaper: "In places like this I can figure out what I’m all about."My business is very self-oriented and takes enormous energy, so any chance to truly get away is welcome. I had a treehouse as a child. But as an adult well, it’s strangely, weirdly satisfying to sit in a tree."Kilmer – whose ranch is so remote, his nearest neighbour, Jane Fonda, lives miles away – has also revealed he wanted to make sure his pad was environmentally sound. He added: "I want to do everything here in an ecologically friendly way. "Eventually I will build a new house here by the river, have some organic gardens to farm what I need and just get back to the land. In a way, this treehouse is my first step in that direction."Val, 46, can’t wait to show his two children, Mercedes, 14, and 11-year-old Jack, his new venture. He gushed: "They haven’t seen this place yet, but I can’t wait. My son is a monkey. He’ll be up on that tin roof in no time."

VAL KILMER has quit his latest film DARK MATTER with MERYL STREEP because of scheduling conflicts. The star’s role reportedly clashed with his new mini-series COMANCHE MOON, and he was forced to drop out. Producers have cast LEGENDS OF THE FALL actor AIDAN QUINN in the part at the last minute, according to film website moviehole.net. According to the film’s director, CHEN SHI-ZHENG, "It is a blessing to have an actor I’ve admired for a long time, AIDAN QUINN, join our production in such an important role." Quinn will play a science professor in the film, which focuses on a brilliant Chinese science student who strives to impress his mentor (Quinn) with his theories on the origins of the universe. Streep will play a patron of the university with a passion for Chinese culture.
