ennifer Lopez is turning to the teachings of Scientology in an effort to become a mum, according to new US reports. The Maid In Manhattan star, who recently attended the Italian wedding of top celebrity Scientologist Tom Cruise, is reportedly taking tips from actress Leah Remini, who used the religion’s doctrines when she was trying to conceive her first child. According to American publication Life & Style, Lopez became interested in Scientology when Remini confided in her that the religion helped her conceive. An insider tells the publication, "She’s starting to understand the cleansing process. It’s all about putting the positive energy where you want it." The source insists Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony are unlikely to join the church because he’s a devout Catholic, but "he’s willing to let Jen do what she needs to make things happen."

Now Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have splashed out £2.5million on a home in West Sussex – the county where the controversial religion has its UK base. The six-bedroom house, on a private estate, has an indoor swimming pool, underground garage, sports pavilion, games room and a state-of-the-art greenhouse. There is a high-tech security system and a cottage for staff. The newlyweds also have homes in Beverly Hills and Colorado. Scientology leader, David Miscavige, who was 44-year- old Cruise’s best man at his wedding ceremony in Italy last week is thought to have inspired the purchase. Scientology’s founder, L Ron Hubbard, lived for seven years at Saint Hill Castle in East Grinstead, now the UK headquarters. Revealing the purchase, the American magazine U.S. Weekly said it was not known when Cruise and 27-year-old Dawson’s Creek star Miss Holmes will spend their first night at the property. Last night estate agent Simon Lillicrap, of Howard Cundey and Co, said the Mission: Impossible star had been attracted to properties in the area in the past. He said: ‘Tom was looking at houses a couple of years ago while he was still with Nicole Kidman. But they didn’t buy anything. ‘The houses where he has bought are very exclusive. They range in price from about £500,000 to £2.5million – but for what they would be getting it is quite a buy. ‘The park, the road and all the hedges are maintained by the residents – it is a completely private estate and the houses are lovely.’ Last night a spokesman for Cruise said he was ‘not aware of the purchase’ of the house.

It’s been less than two weeks since Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ Italian wedding, but it seems that trouble is already brewing in the couple’s marital life. It seems that the couple have not only started fighting after the wedding, but were also having a go at each other before they tied the knot. As for what caused all those problems, it seems that the first thing the couple fought about was where they would be spending their honeymoon. They apparently changed venues five times before settling on the Maldives. The next thing that caused trouble in paradise was Tom whisking his new wife away straight after the reception – when the 27-year old Batman really wanted to spend time with her parents. After that it was the Best Man and bodyguards that had Katie upset, for the entourage was not only present for the wedding, but also tagged along for the couple’s honeymoon. A source revealed that though Holmes had had the wedding of her dreams, she certainly hadn’t been prepared for what was to come. “Katie had a dream wedding, but she wasn’t expecting what followed,” The Sun quoted the source, as saying. Cruise and Holmes swapped vows in a Scientology ceremony on November 18 at a 15th century castle on Lake Bracciano, Italy. The wedding was attended by 150 of the couple’s guests, including Hollywood heavyweights Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy, Victoria Beckham, Leah Remini, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony among others.
