TNT working on Dallas 2.0
October 23rd, 2009 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

TNT is thinking of doing a The CW by bringing an old show in to the millennium. According to TV Guide Magazine, Larry Hagman and Linda Grey have been approached to reprise their roles on an updated version of Dallas. The show, “would focus on their hunky son, John Ross, and Pam and Bobby’s kid, Christopher—with the original players taking on the Jock/Miss Ellie–like supporting grandparent roles.” At this point neither actor has seen a script and won’t agree to do it before then. Linda Grey says she doesn’t want to play an old granny in frumpy clothers, but a powerhouse.
After 90210 and Melrose Place, I don’t think we need a new Dallas. Especially because if by some miracle it did well they probably would bring Dynasty and Knot’s Landing and all of these shows need to stay in ’80s.
One last Dallas note, if you are going to have Bobby’s kids on the show, you need to start off the series with Patrick Duffy in the shower thinking the last few decades have been a dream. Then maybe I would watch.

TBS cancels The Bill Engvall Show
September 29th, 2009 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: 1 ]

TBS will not be picking up the funny family sitcom The Bill Engvall Show for a fourth season according to the AJC.

TBS has cancelled The Bill Engvall Show after three seasons. We had a great experience working with Bill and the cast. Bill is a terrific comic, and we have tremendous respect for him. While the show didn’t attract the audience we need to renew it for another season, we’re proud of the work of everyone involved.

Of course it didn’t get the ratings they needed they put it on Saturday nights, even the broadcast networks don’t put new episodes on that night unless they are burning them off.

George Lopez gets his own talk show on TBS
July 28th, 2009 under George Lopez, TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: 2 ]

I am at the Cable TCAs and I am blogging about George Lopez’s show, so if it is out of order it is because I am live blogging it!!
George Lopez goes from sitcom success to try his hand at a talk show on TBS at 11p. He is happy to bring it to cable because it the right place for him. Back when Arsenio Hall has his own late night talk show, George was on it over 20 times and he is asking Arsenio for advice. Lopez is also real and realizes that his toughest competition will be novelas, he knows he won’t win that battle.
The show will have that feeling it will be taped outside, but in reality it will tape on a set on the Warner Bros lot in Burbank. They were getting too many complaints from Two and a Half Men when they were taping outside, so they recreated the outside look inside.
George says that his show might not always start with a monologue if the guest is big enough he will open with them. He wants his show to be open and like a party. He wants his guests to feel welcome. He will try to keep his show current by going as close to air time as possible.
When asked how he is prepping for his interview skills, he said, “he will be spending August at the University of Phoenix”. LOL! His past experience with being a popular talk show guest has prepared him for doing interviews.
I am looking forward to seeing what he can do with his show, so remember to check him out in November on TBS when it starts to air.

TBS turning Are We There Yet? into a TV Show
July 15th, 2009 under Ice Cube, TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Last week it was announced that TJ Hooker and Baywatch were going from the little screen to the big screen, so now TV is taking something from the movies. TBS is turning the hit Ice Cube movie Are We There Yet? into a TV show and according to The Hollywood Reporter he will have a recurring role on the show. So who will be playing the role he played in the film? The hysterical Terry Crews, who recently played the dad on Everybody Hates Chris! And I am not the only who thinks he is the right man for the role, “Terry Crews is the perfect person to replace me as Nick,” Ice Cube said. “His physical comedy is undeniable.”
Are We There Yet? is slated to air next June. I guess we will be saying Are We There Yet? for the next 11 months.

TBS revives Match Game!
June 20th, 2008 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: 1 ]

Sarah Silverman and Niecy Nash are two of the celebs on TBS's Match Game panel. The pilot was shot this week and those two funny ladies were joined by Norm MacDonald, Super Dave Osborne, Scott Thompson and Rashida Jones according to The Hollywood Reporter. Former-Saturday Night Live comedian Andrew Daly is the new Gene Rayburn!
While Match Game has not been picked up by TBS just yet, I think it will be! I can't wait to see this show back on the small screen. Shame that Brett Somers and Charles Nelson Reilly are no longer around to be part of the show.
