American superstar Michael Jackson has postponed a pricey Tokyo Christmas event to next year so he could add another date to his schedule to meet fans, organizers said. Jackson had been set to appear in a December 19 "Premium Christmas Party" for 1,600 fans in an event to include dancers, a band and gospel singers. According to an Internet notice, the event, renamed as "Premium V.I.P. Party," has been rescheduled to March 8 and will offer more tickets at high prices. For 400,000 yen ($3,428), 300 "platinum" ticket holders can "meet and greet" Jackson and have a picture taken with the star. The ticket will include food, drinks and a glass of champagne. Jackson himself will not perform and will watch the show from a special VIP area, the advertisement said. He will also make some brief remarks. Previously, 200 platinum tickets were on offer. In an additional "Fan Appreciation Day" event on the following day, tickets costing 15,000 yen will allow fans to view a show of dancers performing to Jackson’s hit songs while the star watches from a special area.

Who wants to bet that he will postpone his March dates too?

RECLUSIVE former pop icon Michael Jackson will be the star attraction of a Christmas party in Japan where tickets will cost up to $US3400 each, organisers said. Jackson, who has been lying low since his acquittal on child molestation charges last year, is not scheduled to sing but will join fans listening to his recorded music and watching performers including gospel singers. The December 19 party for up to 1600 fans is marketed as a "25th anniversary" bash for Jackson’s Thriller, the best-selling album of all time, which in fact was released 24 years ago in December 1982. "I look forward to visiting Japan again, and greeting my fans and friends," the erstwhile "King of Pop" said in a brief statement. Jackson, 48, is reported to be suffering serious financial problems since his sensational trial. After being acquitted, he fled the United States for seclusion in the Arab kingdom of Bahrain. Jackson visited Tokyo in May in his first public outing since his trial to receive a "Legends Award" at MTV Japan’s Video Music Awards. He also toured an orphanage. A total of 1600 tickets will be on sale for the Christmas party. Buyers of the 200 "platinum tickets," each priced at 400,000 yen ($US3400), will have a "meet and greet" with Jackson before the show, said promoter Misaki Hayashi. The remaining tickets cost 200,000 yen each, said Hayashi, who expected the event to be sold out within days. "He had a good feeling when he came to Japan last May for the music video awards. So I’m sure he wanted to come back to Japan as soon as possible," she said.

Michael Jackson giving up music for film? |

Michael Jackson has decided to ditch his hopes of reviving his music career and concentrate on film-making. The 48-year-old realised that it was time to leave pop behind after his performance of We Are The World at the World Music Awards on Wednesday was poorly received by the audience. "He knows the WMAs didn’t go well," a source told the Daily Star. "He’s a pragmatic man and realises his musical comeback has every chance of being a disaster, so he’s diversifying. He wants to produce pictures that can be watched by all ages."

I am not so sure I believe this story, but you never know with him.

Contrary to a recent Internet rumor that Janet Jackson, 40, is expecting a baby with her longtime love, Jermaine Dupri, 34, and would not be touring next year to support her latest CD, 20 Y.O., a rep for the singer tells Us, "No, she is not pregnant and she is not canceling her tour." Jackson is expected to hit the road at the beginning of the year, though tour dates have yet to be announced. Still, that doesn’t mean you should stop knitting her some booties. “I’d love to have children,” the singer told Us in October.

Did Michael Jackson try to back out of the WMAs? |

The reports from the World Music Awards in London last night are not good for Michael Jackson. He let Chris Brown perform “Thriller” and Jackson himself only sang a few lines of “We Are the World.” He is said to have been unable to hit the notes in the song, too. But I can tell you that as predicted, Jackson tried to back out of doing the show after he arrived. A backstage source said Jackson wanted to leave, and that a car was brought into the backstage area for him. Luckily, someone convinced him to stay. Jackson asked Lindsay Lohan, the show’s host, to introduce him. Sources also tell me the show – which was taped live for broadcast—was very disorganized and poorly planned. Jackson and his entourage were—maybe still are being—put up at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel after enduring a night at the four-star Soho hotel, Hempel House. That stay was peculiar in and of itself since the Hempel is on a side street and has little protection from fans and the public. Meantime, the roar of bad press can be read this morning in London, where Jackson is raked over the coals in every single newspaper for an embarrassing performance. It turns out the appearance at the World Music Awards was, as predicted, a terrible idea. From the descriptions, it was poorly and hastily produced, under rehearsed, and undirected. This should come has no surprise since Jackson hasn’t got a proper manager or any handlers who know anything about show business—just a nanny and a press rep. But Jackson has so systematically destroyed all his relationships, there isn’t anyone left to take charge of his bizarre, downwardly spiraling career.

Maybe it would have been better if he did…
