Even the Daytime Emmys are over talk shows |

A Daytime Emmy snafu left National Academy of Arts & Sciences officials scrambling Monday to alert voters to a program ballot that mistakenly left off the talkshow category. As a result, skeins like "The View" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" were absent from the list. Omission also affected the rest of the program ballot, leaving the list of eligible shows in the remaining categories all jumbled. New York-based NATAS started receiving calls soon after the ballot to choose the final Daytime Emmy nominees went online Monday afternoon, as did the rival L.A.-based Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (which consults with NATAS on the Daytime Emmy Awards but wasn't involved with the balloting this year). But thankfully for the National Academy, the ballot was located online, for the first time ever, in PDF form. Daytime Emmy officials were able to quickly correct the mistake after hearing about it. Daytime Emmy director Brent Stanton said just nine ballots were cast using the incorrect form between the time the ballot was first posted and when NATAS yanked down the incorrect version. Those voters will be contacted and ask to fill out a new ballot. All 1,800 eligible Daytime Emmy voters have been emailed about the mistake and told that it has been corrected, Stanton said. "We were fortunate that most people didn't go on the site immediately," Stanton said. The balloting hasn't been without hiccups: It was originally supposed to be available last week but was pushed to Monday. Voting will continue through the end of the month. Late Monday, Stanton was breathing a sigh of relief. Had this mistake occurred on the old printed ballot, it would have taken days to correct — and required an entirely new mailing.

Could you imagine the day of nominations if they had not caught their mistake what it would've been like on The View set? You know they would all be blaming Rosie O'Donnell for why they didn't get nominated.

Megan Mullaly talked out |

The low-rated talk show’s staff was told Wednesday that production would cease immediately. It will air through the end of January with a mix of originals and reruns, as had been scheduled. A spokesman for the syndicator said it would work with stations “on programming solutions,” which could include double runs of other fare such as Access Hollywood. Other syndicators are expected to jump into the fray quickly to capture as many vacant spots as possible in time for the February sweeps. In a statement, NBCU said, "We are very proud of the hard work and effort that our staff put into the production of this show. And our host, Megan Mullally, is truly one of the most talented people in our business. We are grateful to have partnered with her on the show and are appreciative for her tireless commitment, effort and dedication to this endeavor."

Did anyone think this was going to last? I am shocked it lasted this long.

How sad. No wonder LA and NY downgraded her air times. Yes I love Meat and Clay, but everyone has already done them!

Katherine Heigl talks about the Grey’s Anatomy scuffle on Ellen |

One star of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy is speaking out about an incident on set between Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey that has sparked plenty of rumors. Various reports about the dispute have circulated, but Anatomy’s Katherine Heigl appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’ show Tuesday and played down the incident: "There was some scuffle. … I don’t know what the fight was about. … It was something silly and manly. There was a little burst of testosterone in the room, and then within five minutes … they were totally fine and joking with each other and laughing." Washington was to have taped an interview Tuesday with DeGeneres to appear today, but canceled (citing a change in his production schedule) after Heigl playfully warned DeGeneres to "step back" during Washington’s appearance. DeGeneres responded by saying Washington "better not call me a name … I’ll be swinging." ABC’s Charissa Gilmore emphasizes that Washington’s standing with the show is fine despite the on-set altercation, saying, "We have no intention of replacing Isaiah."
