The remake for Robocop has been cancelled and I want to call this a great start. According to Jam! the movie is the latest casualty at the financially challenged MGM and I am not complaining. Hopefully this will be the first of many remakes that will never see the light of the movie screen because I am sick of my favorite movies being remade into crappy flicks. Hear that Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes!
If you are like me and you are addicted to the game Mafia Wars, then you are going to like this news. According to Pajiba the extremely popular Facebook/MySpace (for those who still actually use it) is being turned in a feature movie! How I don’t know, but if they can do it for asteroids then they can do it for Mafia Wars. Will the movie just be based in NY and the sequels take place in Cuba, Moscow, Bangkok and Las Vegas or will they incorporate all of them in the movie. Will they have to keep buying stuff to do jobs? Will they advance to the next level and get new titles as they do more jobs and fight? And most important will they only allow 501 people to be in the movie, they can have more then 501 working on the movie but only 501 of them can be shown.
Off to play Mafia Wars because it is has been 5 minutes!
BTW thankfully they are starting Mafia Wars and not Farmiville, could you imagine how boring that game would be? So this guy buys a farm, he plants some seeds, then he harvests the field and sells the crop at marketplace. Once he gets his money he buys some seeds and starts all over again. I fell asleep typing that, so a 90 minute movie would be even more boring.
I can’t even remember all the dolls that are getting movies these days like Barbie, The Smurfs and now comes words that the Good Luck Troll Dolls will be joining them on the big screen. According to the Hollywood Reporter Dreamworks is working on an animated feature for the frizzy haired dolls. I don’t know how I feel about this because I love them, but the only type of movie I can see them in a stoner movie and not a kids one. Seriously what is Hollywood smoking because they keep turning out childhood toys into big screen movies?
BTW I tried finding video of Mimi playing with her trolls on The Drew Carey Show to post with this story, but sadly I couldn’t find any on YouTube.
Thanks to all those Jackie Chan fans out there who went to see that crappy remake of The Karate Kid this weekend, another ’80s movie will be destroyed. According to Pajiba the next movie on the remake chopping block is Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead. Although the movie is just in the beginning stages, thanks to TKK doing so well at the box office I am sure this will sadly happen. Too bad the execs will only see how well TKK did and not how crappy the A-Team did because if they did then maybe they would stop messing with the movies I grew up with and come up with original movies for the new generation of kids.
The thing that scares me with a DTMTBD being remade is they probably will cast one the Disney girls like Miley Cyrus or Demi Lovato in Christina Applegate’s role and Mitchel Musso in Keith Coogan’s. Although I could see Austin Butler playing that role, but they wouldn’t be smart enough to cast him…or would they?
So back to Christina Applegate, how does she feel about her first big movie part being redone? Her is what she Tweeted, “DTMTBD remake? mmmm. Well one thing is for sure. The fashion will be better and the eyebrows shall be groomed…” Personally I liked the fashion, even the clothes during the fashion show. But I do agree with her about the eyebrows! Maybe they will find something for her to do in the new movie like play Rose Lindsey. How much fun would it be to see her play the boss as compared to the assistant? And maybe with a lot makeup they can age Joanna Cassidy who starred as Rose play the Babysitter?
So a month ago a I posted the above faux trailer for a Pac-Man movie and now it turns out there might really be one. Pac-Man is celebrating his 30th anniversary, and in two months at E3 the company is planning on making an announcement about a mystery project for the classic videogame. JoBlo thinks the announcement is that they are making a Pac-Man movie because movie producer Avi Arad is going to be there. Sounds like Pac-Man will be joining Asteroids by going from the arcade to the big screen. Part of me is curious to see how they will convert Pac-Man into a movie, and I would be even more excited about it if it was the above trailer they were using as a model for the flick!
