BB Aussie’s Turkey Slappers not invited to the finale
July 28th, 2006 under Reality International. [ Comments: none ]

INFAMOUS turkey-slappers Michael "John" Bric and Michael "Ashley" Cox have been banned from attending the Big Brother finale and after-party at Dream World on Monday night.Channel 10 yesterday confirmed the two boys were not welcome at the gala bash. They were ejected from the program after Ashley allegedly rubbed his crotch in the face of housemate Camilla while John held her down. All the other 21 housemates of the 2006 series will be reunited at the finale."John and Ashley will not be part of the Big Brother finale for the same reason they were removed from the show – they broke the code of conduct," a Ten spokeswoman said yesterday."It’s the first time in the Australian history of the program that’s happened, and just as the boys received no prizes they similarly have not been invited to the finale."The two disgraced housemates were informed of their latest plight by producers of the reality series earlier this week and did not try to contest the decision, Confidential understands. While they could not be contacted yesterday, the ban is likely to have incensed John and Ashley, who have previously slammed Channel 10 for the way they were treated over the turkey-slapping incident."I feel defamed and this is the biggest issue of my life," media student John told Confidential earlier this month.
The finale showdown will take place on Monday, following the final eviction tomorrow. The four remaining housemates – Jamie, Camilla, David and Max – are currently in contention for the cash prize, which has been whittled down from $1 million to just $200,000.

July 28th, 2006 under Reality International. [ Comments: none ]

ITV has signed a deal to broadcast a British version of Simon Cowell’s new US reality series America’s Got Talent. The show invites all manner of talented performers – ranging from comedians to dancers and musicians – to try their luck in front of a panel of judges. In the later stages of the competition the public votes on who progresses in the competition and eventually, which act scoops the "substantial" cash prize. The judging panel will include Piers Morgan – who is one of three judges on the US version – and Cowell. Although he executive produced the format, he was unable to appear on the US version because he is exclusively contracted with American Idol broadcaster Fox. America’s Got Talent airs on rival network NBC.“I am very excited about this show coming to Britain," said Cowell. "The fact that it has been such a huge success in America has made me even more enthusiastic about bringing it here. This competition has no rules and no age limits. On this show absolutely anything can happen."

No touching in the BB India house
July 20th, 2006 under Reality International. [ Comments: none ]

An Indian version of Celebrity Big Brother will come with a ban on "hanky panky," producers say. "Participants will be told to keep their hands to themselves," a spokeswoman for production company Endemol India told BBC News."India is a conservative society and is not ready for the raunchy scenes that so characterise the programmes in the West," she continued. Up to 12 contestants will take part in the programme at the end of the year. The show’s producers say they want to attract celebrities from Bollywood, cricket and Indian TV to live in the Big Brother house for three months. Unlike other versions of Big Brother, the Indian incarnation will not broadcast live, in order to avoid untoward scenes being shown.India is still a relatively conservative society. Very few couples live together before marriage, and intimate acts, such as kissing, are never seen on TV screens. However, soaps regularly feature storylines about infidelity and pregnancy out of wedlock.

Mike Malin would be able to survive in that house, since we saw he has no problem touching himself for the feeds!

A beyond pointless reality show
July 19th, 2006 under Reality International. [ Comments: none ]

A new reality TV show which sees celebrities trying to adopt a child has caused controversy. The BBC One series, which is set to air next year, will follow three household names as adoption chiefs assess their suitability as parents. "We were told they would love a celebrity to end up adopting a child," one adoption agency told The Mirror. "We gave them short shrift. It just doesn’t seem appropriate for an issue as sensitive as this."Mediawatch’s John Beyer added, "It’s a sensitive area to make into entertainment. To bring in stars to jazz it up is wrong."A spokesperson explained that while none of the stars will actually be adopting a child via the show, they may choose to later."We’re only using personalities with a genuine commitment to adoption and who intend becoming parents in the long-term," the BBC added.
