Adopt Adoptable!
October 10th, 2014 under Queer As Folk. [ Comments: none ]

Queer As Folk’s Scott Lowell was adopted as a baby and during the turn of the century he decided he wanted to find his birth family. What he found out is that searching for them as an adult is not that easy. So about two years ago he decided that he wanted to make a webseries about that experience called Adoptable. Since he wants control over it, the actor is doing it all by himself. That means he needs money to make his dream a reality, and he is asking you for the dough via IndieGoGo. If you contribute a certain amount of money to the project, then you can even get a spoken line in the series or be listed as an Executive Producer of it. Not a bad deal.
So what is the Adoptable about? Lowell plays Scott Fishman an actor who stars in the hit show, Cops & Bottoms with Jerry O’Connell (Jerry O’Connell). He recently got engaged to Lisa Crane (Emily Swallow) and with her urging he decides find his birth parents. Being an actor, he has the means to make a documentary about his search. That film is the mockumentary that we get to watch in all of the webisodes. It will show off his adventures of trying to find his parents along with the help from intermediary Mary Elizabeths (Sharon Gless). We will have to watch all of webisodes to find out if he actually finds the people who gave him life.
This webseries sounds like something everyone can enjoy, especially people that were adopted and have been through what he has been through. Maybe by telling his story, it will make it easier for adopted adults to find their natural parents. That would be a great accomplishment. But that can only happen with your help, so contribute what you can via IndieGoGo. Let’s make this dream a reality.

Is Hal Sparks’ Gale Harold joke funny or in bad taste?
August 20th, 2014 under Queer As Folk. [ Comments: 2 ]

Hal Sparks accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and he challenged his Queer as Folk costar to do it also. While that is all good and fine, it was how he described Gale Harold that I have a huge problem with. He chyroned him as “Great Actor/Bad motorcyclist”. What is wrong with that? Back on October 14, 2008, he was in really bad motorcycle accident. So even though it is has been almost six years since the accident, a joke like that is never funny. It might be an inside joke between them; but the rest of us aren’t in on it, so people like me don’t find it funny at all.
Kind of how I feel about Hal’s humor. In ways, I think he is jealous of Gale. First, Harold is so much sexier than him and he has to know that is how most people feel. In addition, I’ve seen him to do his standup, I’ve seen Gale answer questions from the press, and the latter is so much funnier. Hal’s probably jealous because he says he describes himself as a comedian, but Harold is naturally funny.
I mean I can be reading too much into those four words on the screen, but how can you not?
But then again, I might be biased. I’ll admit I am fan of Gale Harold’s work and I make sure to see the TV shows he is on and the movies he is in. I can’t remember the last time I tuned in to see anything of Hal’s.
So I ask you again, was that joke funny or in bad taste?

Would Showtime do a Queer as Folk reunion movie?
July 18th, 2014 under Queer As Folk. [ Comments: none ]

A few weeks ago, a petition popped up online to bring Queer as Folk back as a reunion movie and today Showtime’s Entertainment President, David Nevins, answered whether or not he would consider doing it at the Showtime TCA Summer Press Day.
The timing is perfect for the reunion because back in May, it became legal for sex-same marriages to happen in Pennsylvania. So that means Ben and Michael could legally get married in the US. Back when the show was on the air, they had to go to Canada to become Mr & Mr.
It would be a great thing to bring back our Pittsburg gang now, after all the advancements that have happened for LGBT rights since QAF ended in 2005. So is this something we could see back on TV in the future? He said, “No one ever pitched it to me.” Then he added, “But if it was a great idea, a compelling reason to do it. It is always possible.” Therefore, the ball is in CowLip’s corner, especially since almost everyone in the cast including Gale Harold, Sharon Gless and Scott Lowell would love to see it become a reality.
Nevins added that he heard that Russell T Davies, the creator of the British version, is working on a show called, Cucumber, for BBC and it’s being described as QAF 20 years later. He says that sounds interesting. Since the American version of QAF was remade from the British version, you never know what could happen?
At this point, all I want is to see Brian, Justin, Ted, Emmett, Ben, Michael, Deb, Melanie, Linz and Hunter together again. Who else is with me on that? If you are then, make sure to sign the petition now now now.
Although, if they wanted to do an updated QAF series, they could base it on Brian and Linz’s son, Gus. They would just have to age him they like age soap opera spawn.

BTWF roles: Scott Lowell in Caroline in the City
June 2nd, 2014 under Before They Were Famous, Queer As Folk. [ Comments: none ]

(starts at 15:00 in)

Before Scott Lowell had a thing for men on Queer As Folk, he was into a woman who dressed like a fish on Caroline in the City. He looks the same now as he did when he was 33 in that 1999 episode.

A mini Queer As Folk reunion!
March 1st, 2014 under Queer As Folk. [ Comments: none ]

Scott Lowell aka Ted Tweeted this photo of himself with Brian, Emmett and Ben aka Gale Harold, Peter Paige and Robert Gant having a boys night out yesterday and this girl is all giddy seeing them together.
Even though Queer As Folk ended in 2005, these four guys look as close as ever. Who knows maybe they were talking about doing a reunion episode? So much has happened for Gay Rights in the last 9 years, I think we need to see what they have been up to. And who they have been up to? Right?
BTW I have to add how much I love Gale’s longer curly hair. It really suits him, but then again what doesn’t? Actually, you know what, all of them look great! So great, they look just like they did on the series finale of the show that ended way too soon. Yeah, I am still bitter that Showtime cancelled the show and I don’t think I will ever get over it. Will you?
