Bill Clinton’s lawyer’s letter to ABC |

Dear Bob,
Despite press reports that ABC/Disney has made changes in the content and marketing of "The Path to 9/11," we remailn concerned about the false impression that airing the show will leave on the public. Labelng the show as "fiction" does not meet your responsibility to the victims of the September 11th attacks, their families, the hard work of the 9/11 Commission, or to the American people as a whole.
At a moment when we should be debating how to make the nation safer by implementing the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, "The Path to 9/11" calls into question the accuracy of the Commission’s report and whether fabricated scenes are, in fact, an accurate portrayal of history. Indeed, the millions spent on the production of this fictional drama would have been better spent informing the public about the Commission’s actual findings and the many recommendations that have yet to be acted upon. Unlike this film, that would have been a tremendous service to the public.
Although our request for an advance copy of the film has been repeatedly denied, it is all too clear that our objections to "The Path to 9/11" are valid and corroborated by those familiar with the film and intimately involved in its production.
– Your corporate partner, Scholastic, has disassociated itself from this proect.
– 9/11 Commission Chairman Thomas Kean, who served as co-executive producer on "The Path to 9/11," has stated that he raised concerns about the accuracy of several scenes in the film and that his concerns were not addressed during production.
– Harvey Keitel, who plays the star role of FBI agent John O’Neill, told reporters yesterday that while the screenplay was presented to him as a fair treatment of historical events, he is upset that several scenes were simply invented for dramatic purposes.
– Numerous Members of Congress, several 9/11 Commissioners and prominent historians have spoken out against this movie.
– Indeed, according to press reports, the fact that you are still editing the film two days before it is scheduled to air is an admission that it is irreparably flawed.
As a nation, we need to be focused on preventing another attack, not fictionalizing the last one for television ratings. "The Path to 9/11" not only tarnishes the work of the 9/11 Commission, but also cheapens the fith anniversary of what was a very painful moment in history for all Americans. We expect that you will make the responsible decision to not air this film.
Sincerely,
Bruce R. Lindsey Chief Executive Officer William J. Clinton Foundation
Douglas J. Band Counselor to President Clinton Office of William Jefferson Clinton

Quayle walks out on Mellencamp show? |
July 17th, 2006 under John Mellencamp, Politics. [ Comments: none ]

Dan Quayle took time out from participating in the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Stateline, Nev., on Friday to attend John Mellencamp’s concert only to run into a political statement. He then made a statement of his own by walking out during Mellencamp’s rendition of “Walk Tall.’’ Before launching into the song, Mellencamp told the Harveys casino crowd, in effect, that it was dedicated to everyone hurt by policies of the current Bush administration. Quayle, who served as vice president for President Bush’s father in 1989-93 walked out of the venue before Mellencamp finished the song. Quayle said through a publicist: “Well, I think Mellencamp’s performance was not very good to begin with, and the comment put it over the top.’’ Mellencamp couldn’t be reached for comment.

Hello MySpace Friends..
GlobeTV will be filming a documentary about "Living with War" and the upcoming CSN&Y tour. And we need your help.
What we are looking for:
"People with stories or pictures of being at Woodstock or another concert tour with CSN&Y music that influenced their lives and is now influencing their children’s or friends’ lives because of similar hopes and fears about the war and the state of the country and the planet. Ideally we would try to visualize their earlier experiences with the music, their lives today and catching-up with the group and music on this summer’s tour. Having a relative or friend involved in the Iraq war, for or against or having served or about to serve would be most helpful. We would also be interested in much younger fans inspired by the music and the message more so than they would be by the younger and more contemporary music groups.
We can include those ranting against W and the war. But the richness and humanness of their perspective and story (i.e. Viet vet, parent of an Iraq war vet etc) would make their outrage more effective."
If you fall into any of these catagories.. or would just like for your voice to be heard.. Please contact RustedSister. Please DO NOT reply to this bulletin.. Please email all inquiries and any stories you have to share to:
[email protected]
Those of you that submit your stories and or voices will most likely be interviewed at the show you are attending. If you are not attending any shows this tour.. Other arrangements will be made.
Thank You
~peace~

Hollywood stars join the Troops Home Fast |
July 3rd, 2006 under Politics. [ Comments: none ]

Star Hollywood actor-activists including Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon and anti-war campaigners led by bereaved mother Cindy Sheehan plan to launch a hunger strike, demanding the immediate return of US troops from Iraq.
As Americans get set to fire up barbeques in patriotic celebration of US Independence Day on July 4, anti-war protestors planned to savour a last meal outside the White House, before embarking on a ‘Troops Home Fast’ at midnight.
"We’ve marched, held vigils, lobbied Congress, camped out at Bush’s ranch, we’ve even gone to jail, now it’s time to do more," said Sheehan, who emerged as an anti-war icon after losing her 24-year-old son Casey in Iraq.
The hunger strike was the latest bid by the US anti-war movement to grab hold of American public opinion, after numerous marches, vigils and political campaigns.
The hunger strike will see at least four activists, Sheehan, veteran comedian and peace campaigner Dick Gregory, former army colonel Ann Wright and environmental campaigner Diane Wilson launch serious, long-term fasts.
"I don’t know how long I can fast, but I am making this open-ended," said Wilson.
Other supporters, including Penn, Sarandon, novelist Alice Walker and actor Danny Glover will join a ‘rolling" fast, a relay in which 2,700 activists pledge to refuse food for at least 24 hours, and then hand over to a comrade.

I love how they will try to go 24 hours, please 24 hours is easy to younger Hollywood. Look at Mischa, Nicole Richie and Kate Bosworth for starters.
