Singer Pete Doherty has been charged with seven counts of possessing drugs including cocaine and diamorphine, Scotland Yard has said.The Babyshambles singer, 27, is being held in custody ahead of his appearance at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Friday.The charges follow his arrest on three separate occasions in east London – on 20 and 29 April and 7 August.Doherty faces three charges of cocaine possession, two charges of diamorphine possession and two of having cannabis.

Controversial rocker Pete Doherty and his band Babyshambles made their performance at a gig for Channel 4 one to remember – by wrecking the stage.Doherty was performing with his band for the channel’s live music show Transmission with T-Mobile.In true rock star-style the group trashed the set at the Riverside Studios in west London.Babyshambles, which Doherty has fronted since splitting with the Libertines, was among those performing for the Friday night programme, presented by duo Steve Jones and Lauren Lauverne.
