Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has been fined £300 and disqualified from driving for two months. The 27-year-old admitted two charges of driving without insurance or a licence at Thames Magistrates Court in London. District Judge Jane McIvor warned the singer that he faces jail if he drives without a licence again. The rock star was arrested in November 2006 by officers who spotted him driving his Jaguar erratically near his east London home. He was fined £200 for driving without insurance, £100 for driving without a driving licence, plus £55 costs. Mr Doherty's defence counsel said the singer was eligible for a licence, but had not applied for one after passing his driving test. Sean Curran added: "Mr Doherty accepts that he was driving with no licence and insurance. "He had left the task of getting an insurance policy in the hands of one of his managers, who hadn't done so." Two other driving-related charges were withdrawn. Several fans watched from the gallery as Mr Doherty admitted the charges. He also spoke to give an address in St John's Wood, north London.

Wouldn't it be funny if driving in a car (hopefully sober) is what finally sent him to jail?

Pete Doherty banned from BBC Children’s TV |

Pop star Pete Doherty has been banned by the BBC from appearing on their children’s television programmes because bosses believe he is a bad role model for youngsters. Doherty, who was arrested early yesterday on suspicion of the theft of a car in Hackney, East London, is barred from Saturday children’s music show TMi, flagship news programme Newsround, Blue Peter, Children In Need shows and all other programmes under the CBBC banner. The drug addict and boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss could find the ban hits sales of records by his band Babyshambles among children. A BBC spokesman said: "Pete Doherty is well known for his drug-taking and criminal behaviour and is not an appropriate CBBC guest." He added that it was an ‘editorial decision based on target audiences’. The censorship of the 27-year-old singer was revealed as part of a discussion on news judgment during the BBC review programme Newswatch. Answering questions about Doherty, Newsround editor, Tim Levell, said: "On Newsround we have an informal agreement we don’t cover Pete Doherty at all – in fact, there is one across the whole of BBC Children’s TV. "And if his management asked if he could be a guest on a Saturday morning show, we would say no because we don’t think he is a good role model for children." Mr Levell admitted Doherty was newsworthy, saying: "I can see how many news channels want to cover him because he is a sort of flawed genius. "Personally I think he has a little too much coverage – particularly because he hasn’t had any hit singles. I couldn’t sing a single Doherty song." There is no ban in force on the BBC’s radio channels – Radio One regularly features the singer in news stories and on their playlists. Andy Boyd, Doherty’s manager, said: "Kids who want to buy Peter’s records will not not buy them because the BBC are not supporting him. I would like their support, but it’s not critical to his future career. "Things are getting better and better and we are are about to sign the largest record deal of the year." But Conservative MP Ann Widdecombe said: "I think it is high time that it happened. With the way Pete Doherty behaves, is it the example you want to set to youth?"
The Evening Standard
I so agree with them, he is not a good influence on kids and I am glad they are taking a stand against him.

Pete Doherty attacks fans and photogs? |

IT had all the necessary ingredients of a BABYSHAMBLES gig . . . violence, rioting, sweat, cigarettes and shambolic performing. PETE DOHERTY and his band played the Dublin Castle in London’s Camden on Thursday. He threw lager on the crowd – which included SADIE FROST and AMY WINEHOUSE – then complained when the stage was crashed by fans. But Potty Pete still seemed to have some energy after the gig, no doubt fuelled by a few extra chemicals, for a frenzied assault on photographers. The singer sent two snappers flying into rubbish bins and attacked one with his guitar. I wonder if his predictable but appalling behaviour had anything to do with KATE MOSS’s notable absence from the show . Kate has been spotted viewing a two-storey mansion in North London.
The Sun
Sounds like rehab did wonders for him…not.

Pete Doherty to try acting? |

PETE Doherty is set to make his debut acting appearance in a remake of Carry On Cruising. He’ll star alongside gorgeous brunette babe Kelly Brook, 27. But we hear Kate Moss won’t be too pleased about his film adventure. Pete, 28, top, is back in Blighty after enjoying an unofficial wedding ceremony with Kate, 32, in Thailand. And the pair are set to officially get hitched on January 18 at a London register office. But while she is busy making plans for their big day, the Babyshambles frontman is said to be in "serious" talks about his role in the remake. The 1962 original starred comedy icons Sid James and Kenneth Williams. An insider said last night: "Pete was approached about playing the role of a wannabe rock star who works as a performer on a cruise ship. It’s a rags to riches tale where in the end he gets it all – the lifestyle, the money and the girl. "Kelly has been mentioned as a serious contender to star as one of the dancers on board the vessel, which sails from New York to Hawaii. It will be her character that Pete falls for. "Filming is due to start at the end of this year. But it isn’t 100% clear if Pete will give the go-ahead. As well as Kate being his main priority, he still wants Babyshambles to be a huge part of his life. "Kate has said that should he go for the film role, she will be on set as often as her schedule allows." Kate has always been protective of Pete when it comes to other women. The insider added: "While Kate encourages Pete with everything he does, she would much prefer him to keep his music career as his main focus." For Pete’s sake, we can’t keep up…
Daily Star
Why would anyone want to cast him? Sounds like the movie will be a flop if he is the lead.

Pete Doherty came back to London alone? |

KATE Moss sent junkie lover Pete Doherty home from their Thai holiday yesterday after cops quizzed him over a bust-up with a cabbie. She made him leave their Phuket villa and fly home alone a day early. The junkie singer, 27, arrived at Heathrow at 6am yesterday and told an autograph hunter: “She’s sent me home because I got arrested.” The airport worker also claimed Doherty told him he DID wed Kate, 32 in Thailand. Doherty told The Sun later: “Kate won’t talk to me. She doesn’t believe me anymore.” He insisted he wasn’t trying to buy drugs during the bust- up after a full moon party. He added: “The guy attacked me for no reason.” Thai authorities had no record of his arrest.
The Sun: Bizarre
I just don’t know what to believe anymore with these two?
