Imagine you’ve been on US Navy Ship in a remote location with no communication whatsoever for several months; and then when you finally do talk to someone, you find out that 80% of the world has died or is dying from a pandemic. To make matters worse for you, is the person (Rhona Mitra) who is working on the cure is on your ship. What would you do? That is the basis for the very thrilling The Last Ship that debuts on TNT tonight at 9p.
Commander Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) is manning the ship and he has to keep his men and women calm as they learn that their families might be dead. Besides dealing with that, they are being attacked by other nations who want the cure. There is no leadership in the world anymore because many of the leaders have died from the fast spreading virus. So they have no way of seeking help from anyone or any country because they don’t know who to trust. They don’t know if there are any safe places to dock at because there are very few people to talk to and those numbers are diminishing by the moment. Then since they have been trapped on the ship for several months, their supplies are running low, so how will they get what they need to survive themselves.
How will they survive? Will they survive? We will just have to tune in every week to find out.
I am obsessed with movies and TV shows about viruses, and I can tell you that The Last Ship gets it right. I don’t like Michael Bay, who is the Executive Producer of this drama, and after 3 episodes, I can tell you I love this show and I know you will too. The drama is very contagious.
So when I started watching the trailer for TNT’s upcoming show The Last Ship, I thought the Michael Bay drama looked just like the failed Last Resort. But then as it went on, I was blown away by how good the show based on a book with Eric Dane looks. Granted I love anything that is about virus outbreaks, so the show had me from that moment on. I just hate that we have to wait until 2014 to see the first 10 episodes of the series. My prediction is that TNT will pair this show with Dallas as they try to build up their winter slate.
Eric Dane is joining his TV girlfriend Chyler Leigh and leaving Grey’s Anatomy. He told TVLine, “I am extremely grateful to everyone at Grey’s, ABC and Shondaland for the experience and memories I have had over the course of this run…It has been wonderful to work alongside and learn from a creative force such as Shonda Rhimes.†And it was wonderful to watch him come out of the shower again and again.
When it comes to his decision, it makes total sense because he was barely used last season. What doesn’t make sense is why he wasn’t utilized more because he was one of the best characters on the show. I will miss him on the ABC drama, but I know he will wind up somewhere better and where they appreciate him.
Hopefully we will get one more steamy shower scene before he checks forever.
Before Eric Dane was the doctor doing all the women on Grey’s Anatomy, he was voted “The Boy Most Likely to be Everybody Else” on The Wonder Years. The 18 year old actor is unrecognizable in that 1993 episode, but he was still absolutely doable even back then with that hair!

Eric Dane and his wife are just days away from having their little daughter, but that is not stopping Rebecca Gayheart from checking out her husband’s a$$ when he bends over and exposes his tighty whities. Unless she heard the old wives’ tale that sex can help bring labor on and she is ready to have her baby like a week ago and she wants to get McSteamy with baby’s daddy?
