Russell Brand is taking over late night TV with BrandX on FX starting on Thursday, June 28th at 11P and I have a BrandX prize pack to giveaway. All you have to do is email me the answer at [email protected] to “What network will BrandX air on?” by July 6th with your name and address! One winner will be chosen at random.
BrandX with Russell Brand features Brand’s unvarnished and unfiltered point of view on current events, worldwide politics and popular culture. Taking on the news of the day like no one else, Brand uses his unconventional sensibility, spirituality, humor and status as a recently transplanted Englishman to get to the bottom of what the news really means. The show will be driven by Brand’s interaction with a live audience as he discusses pundits, news makers and activists – many of whom he calls his friends. In addition, former Congressional policy advisor and Harvard University graduate Matt Stoller will appear on BrandX as a political, economic and historical consultant.
The half-hour show, produced weekly from a Hollywood night club, will bring an unmistakably irreverent attitude to FX late night. Joining the series’ roster of top name guest stars is Kim Kardashian (“Keeping Up with the Kardashians”), who makes her multiple episode debut in the season opener. The one-hour, comedic drama tells the story of a shallow wannabe model who dies in a sudden accident only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brilliant, plus-size and recently deceased attorney, Jane. Drake is taking his Club Paradise on the road; and I have a pair of tickets to give to one lucky winner in the United States. All you have to do is email me the answer at [email protected] to “Before Drake was a Grammy nominated singer, what show did he star on?” by May 17th with your full name, email, phone number, and your choice of city/venue and concert date. One winner will be chosen at random. Only the concert tickets are provided, you will need to provide your own transportation and such.
The Club Paradise Tour comes on the heels of Drake’s hugely successful sold out US college and European arena tours which saw the artist play US college arenas from Miami to San Jose and European venues including London’s O2 Arena and the Oslo Spektrum. The Los Angeles Times review of Drake’s performance at USC’s Galen Center praised Drake’s “masterful flow and wildly imaginative wordplay,†and The OC Register raved that the LA show was a “near knockout performance†and “only a sampling of the heights Drake seems capable of scaling.â€
TAKE CARE (Young Money / Cash Money / Universal Republic), Drake’s sophomore album was released November 15, 2011 and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart with 631,000 copies sold. Acclaimed by fans and critics alike, the album has been praised as one of the best releases of the year, with The New York Times dubbing Drake “hip-hop’s current center of gravity.†The album has since been certified Platinum, having sold over 1.5 million copies in the US.
TAKE CARE follows Drake’s full length album debut, 2010’s THANK ME LATER, which also bowed at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart week of release and has been certified Platinum by the RIAA. The album earned Drake multiple Grammy® nominations, including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Solo performance.
