Does Anna Nicole Smith pay anyone for their services?
February 19th, 2007 under Anna Nicole Smith. [ Comments: none ]

A Bahamas law firm says it is suing former Playboy Playmate and oil heiress Anna Nicole Smith for unpaid legal fees of $113,000. Callenders, based in Nassau, secured an injunction from the Bahamas Supreme Court forbidding Smith to reduce the balance in her local bank accounts below $125,000. Attorney Tracy Ferguson said Smith had repeatedly failed to pay fees due her company. "We are determined to pursue this. We will be paid. Ms. Smith now needs to respond to this and stop being evasive," the Nassau Tribune newspaper quoted Ferguson as saying on Friday. An attorney for Smith could not be reached for comment. Smith hired Callenders in September to handle affairs surrounding her 20-year-old son Daniel, who died at his mother’s hospital bedside three days after she gave birth to daughter Dannie Lynn Hope. The firm later withdrew its services, but only after several weeks of work. This week, the firm filed a lawsuit seeking to enforce the injunction to recoup fees, interest and costs. In an affidavit, Ferguson said she believed Smith had the funds to pay "but that she has a total aversion to paying her bills and that she will seek to avoid paying the fees by any means that occur to her, including by sending her money within this jurisdiction abroad."

You would think with the inquest in to her son’s death coming up she would want to have as many lawyers on her side in the Bahamas, guess not?

DNA-Day for Dannielynn Smith, I mean Birkhead
February 19th, 2007 under Anna Nicole Smith. [ Comments: none ]

As tomorrow’s deadline looms for the DNA test to establish the paternity of Anna Nicole Smith’s baby, TMZ has learned Smith’s lawyers are furiously working to halt the test. Sources tell TMZ that Smith’s lawyers are now arguing that the order requiring the test was never brought before a Bahamian judge. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ordered the test, but Smith’s lawyers now say it’s not binding until a Bahamian judge gives it a stamp of approval. Sources also tell TMZ that Anna Nicole’s lawyers are trying to block the test on grounds that the United States DNA lab hired by Larry Birkhead, the man claiming to be the father of little Dannielynn, cannot legally administer the test because its technicians don’t have work permits for the Bahamas. Despite her public statements that she has nothing to hide, Ms. Smith is going to great lengths to block the DNA test.

Who wants to bet that Anna Nicole Smith will become a fugitive of the law tomorrow rather than have Dannielynn tested?

Anna Nicole Smith gets a stay of DNA testing execution
February 19th, 2007 under Anna Nicole Smith. [ Comments: none ]

ET reports exclusively that ANNA NICOLE SMITH has won a round in the lawsuit filed against her by LARRY BIRKHEAD regarding the paternity of her infant daughter, DANNIELYNN. A judge in Los Angeles has stayed a previous court order for a paternity test in the Bahamas pending a hearing on February 7th. Smith’s attorney, RON RALE, told ET exclusively this afternoon: "Today the court ruled that the collection of DNA samples may not go forward at this time. Notwithstanding anything else that you may hear in the press, this has nothing to do with Anna Nicole refusing to comply with court orders." Rale continues, "Anna remains perfectly willing to comply with every court order. The DNA testing did not go forward today in the Bahamas because we had this hearing pending, and the court has granted the relief that I requested." Birkhead’s lawyer, DEBRA OPRI, was not available for comment. Rale says that Smith is keeping her chin up: "She’s still breathing but she’s very happy with the baby. … Anna’s just like any other new mother enjoying her child."

How much do you want to bet that she will have an excuse why she can’t get the baby tested on 2/7?

Anna Nicole Smith gets another Do or DNA date
February 19th, 2007 under Anna Nicole Smith. [ Comments: none ]

Anna Nicole Smith has been given a choice: She can either book a paternity test or a plane ticket. Two weeks after hearing arguments as to why Smith shouldn’t have to submit her daughter for a DNA test just yet, a Los Angeles judge ordered that the reality-TV star either have that test completed by Feb. 21 or else hightail it back to L.A. to explain the delay in person. Larry Birkhead filed a paternity suit against Smith (who has denied having had a romantic relationship with the photograher, while he claims they had a two-and-a-half-year affair) in October, demanding that she have Dannielynn Hope, who was barely a month old at the time, tested to determine whether he or Smith’s lawyer-turned-lover, Howard K. Stern, is the little girl’s father. According to Birkhead’s attorney, Debra Opri, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald Schnider ruled Wednesday that Smith could have the test performed in the Bahamas or in Miami. If Smith fails to comply, Opri said, Schnider will want to see her in court. There was no immediate comment from Smith’s L.A.-based attorney, Ron Rale.

E!

I hope the Judge makes her do it already and doesn’t give her another extension. I hope like that picture Howard K Stern will be kissing her forehead, but this time he is kssing it goodbye.

I wonder what they are going to blame this one on? It is interesting that she mysteriously collapses the day after a Judge in California ordered her to get the DNA test done by the 21st or else?
