Finally after weeks of speculation thanks to Justin Guarini, American Idol confirms to the NY Times that the American Idols lip-sync the group numbers.
“Every single year we can’t stand the group performances,†Mr. Guarini said. “I know they can’t stand it either. And I think what makes them even worse now is that they’re lip-synched. They’re really prerecorded now.â€Â
Manfred Westphal, a spokesman for FremantleMedia North America, which produces “American Idol†for Fox, at first denied the charge, saying on Tuesday: “The Idols don’t lip-sync, period.†But on Wednesday, in an e-mail message, Mr. Westphal said: “Due to extensive choreography and to balance their voices with open mikes against a screaming audience, the Idols do sing along to their own prerecorded vocal track during the group performances only.â€Â
Here is my question, if they are lip-syncing, why do the songs still sound so horrible?
BTW last night that guy, you know that tall one? Well he was eliminated and they are down to 9.
American Idol is doing one of their staple themes tonight on the show and it is Motown week. Every year Simon and other Judges will give the same critique to most of the singers, that song is too old for you or you need to make the song current. Well maybe if they picked themes that are more modern, they might be able to sing younger and make it more hip! Just an idea.
So who do you think is going to be good tonight on Fox at 8p? Who will crash and burn? And what song will Adam Lambert try to make his Marilyn Manson own?
Not sure if you heard the rumor on Monday that an insider on American Idol was claiming that this year's show was fixed and the Top 4 have already been chosen even though we are at only the second week of the Top 13 performances. The rumored 4 were Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert, Lil Rounds and Alexis Grace. So when DialIdol had Alexis Grace as the bottom vote getter, I knew she was out for two reasons. First because she just didn't have that Vote for Me feel. And second because American Idol doesn't like controversies like that and they always clean up their messes. Which explains why they didn't use the save on her. But I could be guessing…
BTW next week's theme for the touring Idol's is Motown. Due to the President talking on Tuesday the show will be airing on Wednesday and Thursday instead.
I just don’t get the Adam Lambert thing on American Idol, to me he is just a poser. He is like a horrible mix of a Ziggy Stardust/Rocky Horror feel with a Marilyn Manson sound that is all mixed in with way too much of a cheese factor. Is he trying to copy what David Cook and Chris Daughtry could do with songs? Those two knew how to make a song their own and make you want to buy the album. Unlike Adam’s version that scared me. David Cook’s songs were haunting, Adam’s are haunted.
Actually this whole season is a nightmare to me. No one is making me go wow. The only two I remotely like are Scott MacIntyre and Kris Allen. When it comes to who could go home tonight, I ciuld care less.
So American Idol changed things up this season and they let the Judges put through their Wild Card choices to the Top 13 instead of us. The Judges thought they knew what we wanted, but by the results they are not in tune with us. The bottom 3 was made up of 3 out of the 4 Wild Card choices. So maybe next year when they are thinking of changes to the show…The Judges will not be allowed to pick who moves on anymore.
The one good thing about the eliminations, is before them I thought I was the only who didn't get Anoop but seems like I am not the only one!!!
