Veteran actor RICHARD DREYFUSS has finally broken his silence over his departure from the London production of THE PRODUCERS, admitting he was fired from the West End musical. Dreyfuss "withdrew" from the show in October 2004, claiming pain from back and shoulder injuries had made it impossible for him to play MAX BIALYSTOCK. Rumours at the time suggested Dreyfuss had been sacked because he "wasn’t ready or funny enough" during rehearsal, but the show’s producers refused to comment. However, the JAWS star, 59, has finally admitted he didn’t choose to leave the production himself. He says, "I got fired. I couldn’t physically do it."
