Cher was at the Grammys yesterday to present Record of the Year, and also to receive her Grammy for Lifetime Achievement Award.
Since Cher is never boring, neither was this moment!
Trevor Noah presented her with the physical award, and she gave a heartfelt speech about it. Then, when she was done, she was supposed to read who was nominated for Record of the Year. Instead, she started to walk off the stage. So the host reminded her of what she was there to do.
After reading the nominees, it was time to announce the winner. She thought that the winner was going to be written on the teleprompter, but it was not.
So she read the envelope and revealed that the winner was Luther Vandross, who passed away 20 years ago.
Who won? Kendrick Lamar for his album Luther! Therefore, her mistake makes sense.
And with that, Cher turned a boring broadcast into something fun! Long live Cher and Luther Vandross!
