Ayanna Williams has been growing her nails for almost 28 years. They have gotten so long that she made the Guinness Book of World Records for The Woman with the Longest Fingernails in 2017. Back then, they measured a combined 18′ 10.9″.
After nearly 30 years, she was ready to make a change. “I’ve been growing my nails for a few decades now. I’m so, so ready for a new life,” she told Guinness World Records. “I know I’m going to miss them, but it’s just about that time – it’s time for them to go.”
So, over the weekend, she went under the saw and had them cut down to normal size.
Once the dermatologist was done with the operation, her claws were measured again. They totalled 24′ .7″.
How does Ayanna feel after her manicure? “With or without my nails, I will still be the queen. My nails don’t make me. I make my nails!”
She does make her nails. The former record holder plans on growing them, just not as long as they used to be.
If you want to see her fingernails, they will be displayed at the Ripley’s Believe or Not Museum in Orlando.
