Could ALF be the next show to come back?
August 1st, 2018 under Revivals-Reboots. [ Comments: 5 ]

Back in 1990, NBC abruptly cancelled ALF and we never found out what happened to our favorite cat-eating alien lifeform. Now, 28 years later, Warner Bros is shopping around a reboot of the show, where ALF returns to Earth and lives with a new family as a possible scenario.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, three of the original writers are on board to bring ALF back to life. If the original writers are working on it, then what about at least one person from the original cast. I get why Max Wright cannot do it, but what about everyone else?

Whether they are involved or not, I would still watch. I love that furry guy. I just hope that the show goes to a streaming site over a broadcast because they will give it more freedom.

Would you watch an updated version of ALF?

Do you want a reboot of Frasier with just Frasier?
July 25th, 2018 under Kelsey Grammer, Revivals-Reboots. [ Comments: none ]

Now that it looks like the Mad About You revival is not happening, that means another one has to go in its place. According to Deadline, Kelsey Grammer and CBS TV Studios are shopping around the idea of him bringing back Frasier. Just him in a new city with a new cast of characters. Since his dad (John Mahoney) and dog are, sadly, no longer with us, I get why they would not be involved. But what about the others?

Frasier was not just about him, it was an ensemble. If it was just him, it would have gotten cancelled during the first season. I mean think of it this way. Since then he has been part of several shows, and the longest one lasted just 18 episodes. I think that says it all. If you are going to do Frasier, we also need to have Jane Leeves, David Hyde Pierce and Peri Gilpin, without them there is no reason to do it.

Or do you think there is one?

Is West Wing the next revival?
July 12th, 2018 under Joshua Malina, Revivals-Reboots. [ Comments: none ]

Joshua Malina shared a photo of him eating dinner with the West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin and castmates, Bradley Whitford and Janel Moloney, from the political drama and wrote, “Talking reboot.”

Since Malina is known as a huge prankster, we have to take the post with a grain of salt. Since there is salt on the table, that may or not answer the question.

Seriously though, I would love to see Sorkin work his magic again with this show in this era, but I do not want to see on a broadcast channel. I think it would do better on cable or streaming because they will have the freedom to take it to a place where NBC would never let him go. What do you think?

Is the cast of Felicity up for a revival?
June 19th, 2018 under Greg Grunberg, Keri Russell, Revivals-Reboots. [ Comments: none ]

Almost 20 years ago, we fell in love with Felicty. Then we fell out of love with her when the college student cut off her curls into a really short haircut. While people like me still hold a grudge, the cast does not. They got together and talked about their show with Today and their reunion aired today.

It is the first time thatthey have all been together since the college drama went off the air in 2002. Now that they are all in the same room, are they up for a revival? Scott Speedman is totally up for it. Amanda Foreman wants to do a Variety show like The Brady Bunch did. Keri Russell one-upped her by saying they take it to Hawaii. Amy Jo Johnson, Tangi Miller, Greg Grunberg and Ian Gomez are also all up for it. There was only one hold out and that is Scott Foley. He does not think you can recapture the magic they had back then. I tend to agree with him. Not all shows can be revived and this is one of those shows. But then again, I am still pissed about that haircut.

Do you want Felicity to come back or like her curls, you think they need to be left on the floor?

This is how Patricia Richardson envisions a Home Improvement revival
June 4th, 2018 under Revivals-Reboots, Tim Allen. [ Comments: none ]

Now that Fox has picked up Last Man Standing, a Home Improvement revival is on indefinite hold. But if it were to happen, this is how Patricia Richardson pictures the plotline.

She said, “I thought if HI came back Jill and Tim wouldn’t live in the same house because they’ve separated or divorced. Tim has moved somewhere else and has another talkative neighbor. Getting them back together becomes focus of show. No politics. But we know it’s a metaphor for country.”

Does that sound like something you would watch? I kind of like it and could picture their three sons trying to get them back together.

UPDATE: Patricia Richardson added to her tweet, “It’s important to realize here folks this was just what I had been thinking, how could this happen without Wilson, possibly without Taran( no longer acts) and w/the edge the show had when it was good. It’s not going to happen.Tim always wanted the return of Last Man Standing. HATE the politics.Any idea that an Archie Bunker type person can be smart(?) likeable(?)while being homophobic and/or racist is a stretch. But I love the family/friend dynamics on LMS.The love they all display for each other, that Tim shares with them,is so truthful and beautiful.”

In case you were wondering why they would need a new neighbor, sadly, Earl Hindman, who played Wilson, passed away from lung cancer in 2003.
