Could CMT save Last Man Standing?
June 14th, 2017 under CMT, Tim Allen. [ Comments: none ]

Last month when ABC announced its 2017-2018 schedule, Last Man Standing was not on it. It was a shock because it was one of there top rated shows. Therefore, the cancellation was a huge surprise. Some people assumed it was given the axe because of Tim Allen’s political views, which I do not think was the case. I think Tim Allen was the reason it was cancelled and that is because he became too expensive to the network that recently picked up the costly American Idol and renewed Modern Family for 2 more seasons with a large expensive ensemble cast. The latter show is from the same outside studio (20th Century Fox), and networks are now trying to pick up shows from the same studio as them. If that makes sense.

When the network was asked why they did not renew the show that has a loyal fan base Channing Dungey, President, ABC Entertainment, explained her decision as because they decided to get rid of comedies on Friday nights, there was no room for the sitcom. Even Shark Tank found itself airing on a new night.

Anyways, out of all of the cancelled shows, I knew that LMS had the best chance of being picked up by someone else. Now according to The Hollywood Reporter, it looks CMT will be that someone else. This would not be the first time that CMT saved an ABC show, last year they picked up Nashville. Something that has proven to be a smart choice for them. Here is to hoping they revive LMS because I actually really enjoy the show. I liked that they tackle both sides of political issues and still make me laugh.

If you want CMT to pick up Last Man Standing, then you better send them your love arrows!

CMT is still singing Nashville’s Blues!
April 10th, 2017 under CMT, Hayden Panettiere. [ Comments: 2 ]

Even though ABC cancelled Nashville; CMT not only saved it for another season, they are sticking with it. The network announced today that they picked it up for their second and the show’s sixth one. The 16 episode season will debut early next year.

But wait, when will the show be back to finish off this current season. They announced today that all new episodes will start airing on June 1st, so mark it on your calendars. What can we expect when it returns, here’s what the press release says, “The midseason premiere picks up 10 weeks after the events that unfolded in the midseason finale. Deacon helps Daphne with a school project, but Daphne feels unmotivated. Juliette gives Maddie unsolicited advice about a song. Scarlett and Gunnar receive news about the baby.”

I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to the Rayna-free episodes. I just they were all Juliette, and bad Juliette to boot!

Connie Britton’s message for Nashville fans after yesterday’s sad episode
February 24th, 2017 under CMT. [ Comments: 1 ]

SPOILER ALERT – STOP READING IF YOU DID NOT SEE THE EPISODE

Fans of Nashville were shocked yesterday as they watched Rayna James die after what seemed like a survivable car accident. The tear-filled episode ended with James’ daughters and husband crying over her as she passed away. Leaving viewers to do the same.

After it concluded on CMT, Connie Britton took to Instagram with this heartfelt message for them.

Thank you Rayna Jaymes. For your magic and your dignity. And thank you to all the creators of Rayna Jaymes, for there were many. Callie Khouri, who gave her life. Deacon, Maddie, Daphne, who shaped her as her family. Teddy, Tandy, Lamar too. Juliette, Scarlett, Bucky and the ones who crafted her into a business woman. Along with countless other compatriots and combatants. And then of course the crew of “Nashville” who brought her to life, every crew member in every department who made Rayna live each week.

And then there’s the music. T Bone, Buddy, Tim, Frankie and all the brilliant songwriters who gave Rayna a voice. There was no music, and no Rayna, without you.

But finally and most importantly, the fans. You made Rayna. You supported her and loved her and gave her inspiration just as she was able to inspire you. You were the energy source, the power behind her heart and soul and life. Rayna lived for you.

And, from the depths of my heart, I thank you, for her and for me. It has been an honor to be a part of that creation. And as I know she would want it, the show must, and will go on. Long live Rayna Jaymes. #RIPRayna #NashvilleCMT

Even though her death was shocking, I don’t think it was a surprise. Even though the actress signed on to do the music drama when it moved from ABC to CMT, she said she was only going to do a handful of episodes. I was kind of hoping she was going to follow the tech billionaire to the West Coast and make occasional appearances. Yesterday’s episode put the final nail in her coffin literally and she won’t be back on the show.

Are you going to miss her?

Sun Records is for anyone who loves music!
February 23rd, 2017 under CMT. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’50s, Rock’n’Roll was just being born and Sam Phillips (Chad Michael Murray) was one of its fathers. He created a little record label/recording studio in Memphis, Tn and tonight at 10p on CMT you will learn his story of Sun Records. Several of the biggest artists of our time sang there and their stories will also be told.

Sam Phillips and his wife Becky (Jennifer Holland) moved to Memphis, so he could live out his dream. Dreams are not cheap and they put all of their money into Sun Records and that is still not enough. It is hard for him to get people to come in and sign up for a recording session that’s only cost $3.98. Back then that was a lot of money. Not only does he have a problem getting people in, Memphis is still racist and they don’t like the fact that African-Americans are coming into his studio.

He isn’t the only one facing a racism backlash. Some kid named Elvis Presley (Drake Milligan) is seen coming out of a Black Church and now the bad boy is blackballed around town especially with the girl he likes.

There is another boy, who likes a girl, and his name is Jerry Lee Lewis (Christian Lees), who can’t date the girl he likes. She is the Preacher’s daughter and her dad doesn’t like the teen. That is until he makes a decision that will change it all. Lewis’ cousin is also on the show, not that one, but Jimmy Swaggart (Jonah Lees). Side note, the TV cousins are twin brothers in real life.

Then there is Radio DJ Dewey Phillips (Keir O’Donnell) who is helping get Sam’s business off of the ground. Only problem is the station doesn’t like the music that Sam is bringing in. Because of that Sam is having financial difficulties and Dewey gets Sam’s assistant hired at the station.

Marion Keisker (Margaret Anne Florence) is not only working at Sun Records and the radio station, she is also sleeping with Sam. That makes things complicated for so many reasons.

There is another new guy in Memphis and his name is Colonel Tom Parker (Billy Gardell). This is him before he signed Elvis, so he is a lot different than the man we know. He didn’t come alone, he came with Country singer Eddy Arnold (Trevor Donovan) and he is growing tired of the Colonel’s ways.

See what I mean, lots for music lovers to love. Plus, it is a great fit with Nashville that is so much better on its new home. Therefore, tune in tonight and every Thursday at 10p for a period drama that is great balls of fire!!!

Seriously, I don’t know what CMT is doing, but they are killing with scripted programming between this, Nashville and Still the King. I love this network’s shows including these 3 shows and I Love Kellie Pickler!

I Love Kellie Pickler even more the second time around!
August 25th, 2016 under American Idol 1-5, CMT, Kellie Pickler. [ Comments: none ]

I Love Kellie Pickler is back for a second season tonight at 10p on CMT and somehow she found a way to make herself even more lovable.
Last season, we saw Kellie and her husband, Kyle of five years, adopt chickens, try Hot Yoga together, eat a Minnesotan delicacy called Lutefisk, find out they have a ghost in their house, saw her perform at NASCAR, a baseball game and at a Military Base, and finally tie knot again in front of their friends.
This season they are up for even more challenges like going to Tokyo and appearing on Celebrity Family Feud, and the American Idol contestant will work at Sonic and as Uber drive.
Tonight they start the season off with their Surprise Sundays. Kyle takes Kellie to go Bungee Jumping because you only live once. Then she makes him an Apple Pie with his mom because he is on a mission for their friend.
Jen is single and they want her to find her a love like the one that they have. Kyle and their other friend Ken go to a dog park with her dog Spike and they try to find Jen a man. Basically, they go around hitting on men which is awkward for all. Eventually they find her nice guy, but will there be a love connection?
Talking about love, Kellie shares with us the first time she told her husband that she loves him. That is the thing that separates this reality show from the others. Kellie and Kyle have such a sweet loving marriage, that you thoroughly enjoy watching them together. They share a lot about it, but not too much. Not that stuff you really don’t want to hear about.
Plus, she is just the cutest thing ever. You can’t help but to love Kellie Pickler. Therefore, fall in love with her tonight and every Thursday at 10p.
