Last week, Stephen Colbert suffered a ruptured appendix. Because of that, he had to miss a week of The Late Show and was expected to be back tonight.

However, he posted on Threads yesterday, “I’m listening to my doctors and continuing to rest and heal. Thank you for all your well wishes and I’ll see you soon. – Stephen”

Hopefully, he will be better soon and back to what he loves doing, making fun of that former New Yorker who moved to Florida after a four-year stay in Washington, D.C.

This is not the first time that Colbert has had to take extended sick leave from his late night show this season. He also had to take time off because he caught COVID-19 again.

Stephen Colbert is taking this week off from The Late Show, and it is not because he partied too much during Thanksgiving.

“Sorry to say that I have to cancel our shows this week. I’m sure you’re thinking,
‘Turkey overdose, Steve? Gravy boat capsize?'” he wrote. “Actually, I’m recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix. I’m grateful to my doctors for their care and to Evie and the kids for putting up with me. Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas.”

Hopefully, he will be better soon and back at work next week.

This is not the first time he has missed a week of shows this season. He also missed a week due to COVID in October.

Barbra Streisand gave Stephen Colbert a tour of her basement mall

A few years ago, I saw the play Buyer and Cellar, which is based on the possible person who works in the mall that Barbra Streisand has in her basement.

Ever since then, I have wanted to see that mall. And yesterday, I did when the legend gave Stephen Colbert a tour of it on his Late Show. Babs showed him two of the stores; one displayed rare, old dolls, and the other was a gift shop full of antiques.

It was even better than I thought. I just wished she had given the tour to someone who was less concerned about making unfunny jokes instead of appreciating the unique opportunity he was given.

Stephen Colbert cancels The Late Show for the rest of the week

On Monday, Stephen Colbert announced that he tested positive for COVID-19 and would be hosting The Late Show from home. But then yesterday, he said that he was not up for hosting the show.

Today, he gave a further update on his health. “Sorry to say, per doctor’s orders, I’m going to be out for the rest of the week,” he said in his message. “Resting up so that I can deliver the hand crafted, artisanal talk show that we so enjoy serving you. In the meantime, a heady blend of Paxlovid and onions in my socks (thank you, [Jimmy] Fallon) will be rebuilding my immune system.”

I love that Fallon sent him that care package. I wonder what the other members of Strike Force Five are going to send him to get well.

And on that note, I hope it works well, and he is better soon.
