Will Fox and FX call 9-1-1 to report the theft of Ryan Murphy to Netflix?
February 13th, 2018 under American Horror Story, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

If you thought that Ryan Murphy pushed the envelope really far on FX, then just wait to see what he does on Netflix when he can take things to an R-Rated level. Blood, gore, sex and cursing are in his future because he signed a major deal with the streaming service.

Beginning on July 1st, he will exclusively be creating new shows and movies for Netflix. Man this is a huge coup for Netflix because FX has basically become the Ryan Murphy network. How does he feel about the move? “I am a gay kid from Indiana who moved to Hollywood in 1989 with $55 dollars in savings in my pocket, so the fact that my dreams have crystallized and come true in such a major way is emotional and overwhelming to me. I am awash in genuine appreciation for Ted Sarandos, Reed Hastings and Cindy Holland at Netflix for believing in me and the future of my company which will continue to champion women, minorities and LGBTQ heroes and heroines.”

What about American Crime Story, American Horror Story, Feud, 9-1-1 and Pose? He said, “I am honored and grateful to continue my partnership with my friends and peers at Fox on our existing shows.” They are safe for now.

What can we expect from him on Netflix? He already has two new shows set to debut globally there and they are Ratched and The Politician.

All I know is, now that he has free reign, we better get a Popular reunion movie and Nip/Tuck revival. Dr. Sean McNamara and Dr. Christian Troy were Dr Miami before Michael Salzhauer gave himself the title.

Seriously, if Netflix steals Greg Berlanti and/or Seth MacFarlane away from traditional television, broadcast TV is screwed more than the characters will be in Murphy’s shows. ABC already lost Shonda Rimes to Netflix, so the networks cannot afford to lose any more big producers.

Is Sarah Paulson as afraid of clowns as her AHS: Cult character?
September 19th, 2017 under American Horror Story, Ellen DeGeneres. [ Comments: 2 ]

In case you have not been watching this season of American Horror Story: Cult, then you would not know that Sarah Paulson’s character suffers from Coulrophobia, a phobia of clowns. Ellen DeGeneres has seen the Emmy award actress in several of the American Horror Story editions and wonders if she scares easily. So today on Ellen, the daytime host decided to test to see what she is afraid by first hiding in her bathroom closet, the second time she had someone dressed up as something and sneak up behind her, and finally she had a clown jump out of the ottoman. And with all of that Paulson will have to be placed in asylum just like she was in that AHS season called Asylum. Let’s just hope for her sake, Ryan Murphy is not the director and Ellen is the head nurse. If that is the case, then this will be the last time we will see Paulson in any American Horror Story franchise.

American Horror Story: Cult looks like more like a Horror movie
August 23rd, 2017 under American Horror Story. [ Comments: none ]

Up until now, American Horror Story has felt more like a TV series, but Cult seems like it will be more like a really long Horror movie. Which is something I have been waiting for because to me that is how a Horror story should play out. Are you as excised as Evan Peters to watch the latest installment starting on September 5th.

American Crime Story: Gianni Versace bumps Katrina
June 13th, 2017 under American Horror Story. [ Comments: none ]

American Crime Story: The People v OJ Simpson was an awards darling, so FX rushed not one but two editions of the limited series. First they ordered a season based on the fall out of Katrina in New Orleans and then they ordered one on the shocking murder of fashion icon Gianni Versace.

Both seasons have star studded casts in Annette Benning, Matthew Broderick, Penelope Cruz, Ricky Martin and many more, which makes it seem like they would want to rush both to air. They are not. In fact, they are currently shooting Versace which was supposed to air after Katrina, but the latter has not began filming. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that for Katrina they need more time to create the special water effects so they can recreate the deadly hurricane and its aftermath. Plus, when you have a cast like that, it is hard syncing their acting schedules. Due to all that, that edition will not air until the end of next year and Versace will air the beginning of 2018.

Personally, I never got why they are doing Katrina in the first place because it just does not seem the fit their theme. Versace does because it is about the murder and then the search for his killer. Which makes me think that Katrina might not make it to air if it does not get its act together soon. Especially, since there are so many other crime stories they can do that will keep up enthralled like they did with OJ. Imagine of they did the Manson murders or Patty Hearst’s kidnapping, The Preppy Killer and so many more. Which crime story do you want them tackle next? Do you want to see Katrina happen?

Michael Chiklis says American Horror Story was one of his darkest years
October 25th, 2016 under American Horror Story, Michael Chiklis, No Ordinary Family. [ Comments: none ]

Michael Chiklis has had an amazing career filled with comedies, family television and dramas, but one show was so hard on him he doesn’t know if he could do it again.
When he was asked if he would do another season of American Horror Story on Larry King Now, he told the Ora TV host, “Probably not.” Then he explained, “I mean that was one of the darkest years of my career. It is one thing to do a Horror film, in the context of like two months or something like that. But to live in that for 6 months.”
This is coming from a man who spent 5 years as The Commish, 6 years in the very gritty The Shield and over a year on Gotham. The Shield was so violent for me, I watched one episode and never ever went back. Yet he feels AHS was, “so dark and so nasty.”
The show creeped him out so much that for the first time in his career, he did not watch the final product. After watching a few episodes, he chose not to watch any more.
Which says a lot to me, especially since I though American Horror Story: Freak Show was the tamest one of the series so far. Although, his Strong Man was really messed up and took part in some really awful scenes. I guess now that I think about it, I can see where he is coming from with his thoughts.
I will say this about Chiklis, he truly is one of the greatest and most diverse actors on television. He has played the spectrum and each role is completely different. My favorite one, No Ordinary Family ended way too early because that was a gem of a show that ABC didn’t realize they had.
