Alfonso Ribeiro says Bruce Springsteen inspired the Carlton Dance
November 15th, 2022 under Alfonso Ribeiro, Bruce Springsteen, Courteney Cox, Jimmy Fallon. [ Comments: none ]

Have you ever wondered who inspired Alfonso Ribeiro to dance the way he did on The Fresh of Bel-Air? Was it Belinda Carlisle from The Go-Go’s as she assumed? Nope. It was actually the way Bruce Springsteen and Courteney Cox danced in Dancing in the Dark.

So, yesterday when the Boss was on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon wanted to know what he thought of that. He laughed and said, “Well. My dancing is pretty embarrassing. And my kids kill me on that. ‘Dad, you look ridiculous. Ridiculous.’ It is my New Jersey Shuffle. I guess. It is all I knew.”

And then Springsteen said he saw the resemblance as we all do now. And we won’t be able to unsee it.

Listen to Conan O’Brien call Bruce Springsteen and Tom Hanks class acts
November 10th, 2022 under Bruce Springsteen, Conan O'Brien, Howard Stern, Tom Hanks. [ Comments: none ]

Howard Stern has said that Conan O’Brien is his favorite guest. So when the late night host was the shock jock’s radio show, the latter asked who is his favorite guest.

O’Brien told him that it was Bruce Springsteen. That is because the singer came early, rehearsed, got to know the cameramen’s names, and stayed after the show was done to hang out.

He was not the only one who came to work, so did Tom Hanks. Conan said that when Hanks was a host on Saturday Night Live, the Oscar winner spent 24/7 at 30 Rock. He also had tons of great ideas and was there to play.

I love to hear that two of the most beloved celebrities are not just putting on act. They are WYSIWYG.

You can hear Bruce Springsteen’s soul on Nightshift
October 14th, 2022 under Bruce Springsteen. [ Comments: 9 ]

Bruce Springsteen is called The Boss because he is The Boss. His songs and his voice on them are one of a kind. They reached everybody from the working class to the elite, and that is why everybody likes them.

However, on his new album, Only The Strong Survive, he is singing songs by legendary Soul and Motown artists. One of those tunes is The Commodores’ Nightshift from 1985.

Today, the singer released his music video for the single, and we have never seen or heard him like this before. It is like at the age of 73; he finally found out this is the performer that he was meant to be.

Look at the way he comes alive differently than he has in the past. Not that there is anything wrong with his original stuff and how he performed them. But look at who he is here, and don’t tell me you don’t see how happy he is in the moment.

The transformation is incredible, and I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album on November 11th.

Now, back to the Nightshift. I just listened to the original version, and Bruce’s cover is actually better. I didn’t think it would be because the original is powerful on its own since it was a tribute to the recently deceased Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson. But Springsteen made it better by making it his own.

Gotta love an artist that can reinvent himself in his 70s! But then again, we are talking about Bruce.

Bruce Springsteen is releasing an album full of Soul covers
September 29th, 2022 under Bruce Springsteen. [ Comments: none ]

Bruce Springsteen announced today that he is releasing a new album on November 11th. Only the Strong Survive is unlike anything else he is done. That is because a record full of Soul, Gospel, and Motown covers.

“I wanted to make an album where I just sang. And what better music to work with than the great American songbook of the Sixties and Seventies? I’ve taken my inspiration from Levi Stubbs, David Ruffin, Jimmy Ruffin, the Iceman Jerry Butler, Diana Ross, Dobie Gray, and Scott Walker, among many others,” The Boss said. “I’ve tried to do justice to them all—and to the fabulous writers of this glorious music. My goal is for the modern audience to experience its beauty and joy, just as I have since I first heard it. I hope you love listening to it as much as I loved making it.”

Who had a Bruce Springsteen/Killers song on the duet bingo card?
June 16th, 2021 under Bruce Springsteen, The Killers. [ Comments: none ]

If someone told you that The Killers and Bruce Springsteen would release a single together, you probably would not have believed them. Well, they did and Dustland is out now.

I just want to know how this collaboration came about because they are such polar opposites. One is a band, and one is a solo artist (mostly). One is from New Jersey, and one is from Las Vegas. One is Classic Rock, and one is Modern Indie Rock. Other than both being men with defining voices, I don’t know what they have in common.

However, that could be why this song works so well. We need more opposites to attract like this in the music world.
