Van Halen no longer hot for touring?
February 20th, 2007 under Van Halen. [ Comments: none ]

Pollstar confirms that the tickets for the Van Halen reunion tour with David Lee Roth that were suppose to go on sale this Saturday are on indefinite hold. Looks like Eddie Van Halen's girlfriend, I mean publicist might have jumped the gun by announcing the tour. Oh well, this summer is already overloaded with reunion tours.

Van Halen touring again with David Lee Roth?

Sources tell Billboard.com a contract could be signed as soon as today for Live Nation to produce a 40-date amphitheatre tour by Van Halen this summer, with original frontman David Lee Roth back in the fold for the first time in more than 20 years. As previously reported, guitarist Eddie Van Halen’s 15-year-old son Wolfgang has stepped in for original bassist Michael Anthony in the new incarnation of the group, which also features drummer Alex Van Halen. "I see it absolutely as an inevitability," Roth told Billboard.com last May of a potential reunion with his ex-bandmates. "To me, it’s not rocket surgery. It’s very simple to put together. And as far as hurt feelings and water under the dam, like what’s-her-name says to what’s-her-name at the end of the movie ‘Chicago’ — ‘So what? It’s showbiz!’ So I definitely see it happening." Sammy Hagar recently told Billboard.com he was concerned Eddie Van Halen was asking too much of his son to have him join the band and promptly perform in front of thousands of people every night. "That’s a lot of pressure for Wolfie. Just ’cause he’s Eddie’s son doesn’t mean he can go out and play in arenas and perform and entertain an audience for two hours," he said. "I would love to see Eddie and Alex get behind Wolfie, with a kid of his age singing, and produce the record for him and help him launch a career. I’d rather see it go that way than come out and say ‘Wolfie’s the bass player in Van Halen and maybe singing, too.’ Van Halen’s got way too much history to have that put on him."

I would love to see them touring with David Lee Roth because the only time I saw them was with Hagar (and no offense to him) it is just not the same.

Rumours spread that the band will tour next year Van Halen are rumoured to be on the brink of reforming for a world tour. The band are thought to be lining up a series of tour dates in America next year with original singer David Lee Roth. Van Halen last played together with former singer Sammy Hagar two years ago for a massive greatest hits tour of the States. But after the tour ended Hagar returned to his solo group The Waboritas and nothing more was heard from the band. According to MelodicRock, tour dates are likely but there are no plans to release any new material or a compilation album.

Just like Genesis I will believe it when I see it.

Sammy Hagar wants to make up with David Lee Roth?
June 30th, 2006 under Van Halen. [ Comments: none ]

Rocker SAMMY HAGAR is prepared to forgive and forget his spat with fellow former VAN HALEN frontman DAVID LEE ROTH, after watching the JUMP singer grow old gracefully. Hagar and Lee Roth’s friendship was tested when they toured together a few years back and the WHY CAN’T THIS BE LOVE singer grew tired of Diamond Dave’s outrageous costumes and his apparent desperation to cling onto his youth. The tour ended on a sour note as handlers had to keep the two rockers apart backstage, but now Hagar insists he has no animosity towards Lee Roth. He says, "I’m fine with Dave. I like Dave better now than I did in the old days. "After we did the tour together, he and I got into a little spiff (sic); they had to put up a wall between us every night – we couldn’t see each other, he had to have left the building when I came in and all this kinda stuff. "But after seeing what he’s doing recently he looks like he’s having a pretty good time. At least he’s not out there dressing up the way he was on my shows… Now he’s got his hair looking a little more natural. "He was the epitome of that era (1980s), I think… and when he started getting older and still trying to look like he was 24 and act like that, I mean it looked really bad. It was rough."
