Has Katharine McPhee hit hard times?
February 21st, 2018 under American Idol 1-5, Hard times. [ Comments: none ]

Katharine McPhee was seen working as a waitress, so has the actress hit hard times even though her show Scorpion is still do well on CBS? No hard times in the near future for her because she is making her Broadway debut in the musical Waitress starting on April 10th and here is a preview how she will look in it. Pretty believable, right?

Fantasia didn’t even know who the new American Idol judges are
December 4th, 2017 under American Idol 1-5, Andy Cohen. [ Comments: none ]

As we know American Idol is coming back next year and they finally hired Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan to join Katy Perry at the judges’ table. Turns out here was one person who did not know that and that was the third season winner.

Yesterday, when Fantasia was on Watch What Happens Live on Bravo, a caller wanted to know what she thinks of the new Idol and if they asked her to be a judge. She says they did not call her. Then she admitted it is too soon, but she likes that they are “opening doors” for singers.

Then she had some advice for the show, she said, “You have to bring in good judges.” Then she explained why, “When I was on Idol, we had people who truly respected music, was passionate about it. Don’t just bring up people who are good for the look. Bring in people who are going to give good advice, encourage people and tell them what they need to know about this industry.”

Then when Andy Cohen asked her what she thought about the new judges, she did not know who they are. Then when he named Lionel Richie, she seemed OK with it. When he said Katy Perry’s name, you could see by her face she did not approve. Finally, when he remembered Luke Bryan’s name, her facial expression did not change. Does that mean she does not approve? She said it would it be good, but she did not say they would be good.

You know what, she is right it is too soon and you need good judges. Once Idol was more about named judges than the people who knew the industry and gave good advice like Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, it quickly went down hill. As soon as they brought on Ellen DeGeneres, the show never had a successful Idol who put out hit records. Therefore, this year, will most likely be another of year forgetting who won right after they win.

Carrie Underwood breaks her wrist after falling down some steps
November 12th, 2017 under American Idol 1-5, Carrie Underwood. [ Comments: none ]

Days after killing it at the CMAs, Carrie Underwood nearly killed herself by falling down some stairs outside of her house on Friday. Luckily, she is just battered and bruised with a broken wrist and she will be OK after “some time” according to People.

She reassured her fans on Twitter by saying, “I’ll be alright…might just take some time…glad I’ve got the best hubby in the world to take care of me.” Mike Fisher, was out of town at the time, but flew home to be with his wife.

She is the second American Idol alum to have fallen down some stairs in the last month, so I say to the other ones be careful when you take the steps. The first one was Simon Cowell on September 27th and he is doing better after a low blood pressure diagnosis.

Conan O’Brien found where Justin Guarini has been hiding!
November 8th, 2017 under American Idol 1-5, Conan O'Brien. [ Comments: none ]

We have been talking about Kelly Clarkson for 15 years, but whatever happened to that guy she did a movie with all those years ago? Somehow Conan O’Brien found Justin Guarini and got him to sing a song on his late night show yesterday that is filming at the Apollo Theater all this week.

While that might sound glorious for American Idol’s first runner up, it actually isn’t. Why? Because he was singing it about the Conan Strike Rat balloon that the host is trying to get in Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year. Since it looks more like the President than him, there is not way that it will happen. Because someone on 5th Avenue will shoot it down and not lose a single supporter! Where have I heard that scenario before?

This is what Randy Jackson is relegated to judging now!
November 8th, 2017 under American Idol 1-5. [ Comments: none ]

As you know American Idol is coming back to TV this March on ABC, and Randy Jackson will not be part of it. So what is the longest running judge from that singing competition up to now? He is still judging, and it is something that goes with his catchphrase. Not a’right, but dawg. That’s right he is telling actual dogs if they are pitchy at dog show competitions for Geico! And I am sure both the boy and girl dogs will be a real bitch to him if his bark is worse than his bite towards them.
