I’ve never watched more than a few minutes of this show, because what little I saw of it was BS. UB’s character reminds of of Mimi on Drew Carey, and although Mimi’s character’s antics amused me, I thought her “style of dressing” was WAY over the top, and unnecessary for a show with so much talent in both writing, and actors. But it bugged me to watch Drew Carey just because of Mimi’s stupid, over-the-top, gratuitous outfits.
Just Shoot Me, and The Devil Wears Pravda carried off the humorous ugly-duckling themes much more believably.
For all I know, there might actually be some decent stories and plots in Ugly Betty, but I just can’t stand looking at her unnecessary garish outfits; there’s plenty of ways to dress unattractively without being so extreme that no one believes someone would actually wear it to a job (maybe a homeless, or crazy person). It’s like watching shows imported from south of the border; they might as well have men in bee outfits too.
