[ # ] Friends: The Movie in the works?
July 2nd, 2008 under Friends (cast)

Hot off the heels of Sex and the City: The Movie, there are rumors that we could also be getting a Friends reunion on the big screen according to Daily Mail.

'As the biggest star of the Friends franchise, Jennifer can't help but look at what's happened with Sarah Jessica Parker and the Sex And The City film and be a little jealous.

'What's held back a Friends movie so far is that people were worried that Jennifer had simply become too famous to play Rachel again.

'But the truth is that Jennifer is finally willing to do it, and she'd love to work with that whole team of actors and producers again.

'She says she and Courteney have already talked this summer about what they want out of a Friends movie, and if deals can be made with them, everything else can fall into place rather quickly.

'It really comes down to money, and I don't think Jen has a problem with all of the Friends getting huge paydays for the movie.

'In that sense, it's Sex And The City all over again. There's no movie unless you can reunite the whole cast and keep them all happy financially.'

Considering how all of their careers are doing, I think we will be getting that big screen version of the movie. But I think unlike Sex and the City, Friends will not translate well on the big screen. It is more Movie of the Week than a Blockbuster movie.

I bet a lot more men would be willing to go see a remake movie of Friends than SITC. That’s a pretty decent photo of them, if you overlook that all their exposed skin has the same base slathered on.

I don’t think a Friends big-screen movie will work. Will they be like SATC and give us a super-R-rated version of Friends? That would be pretty nauseating. I’d rather see a TV movie and find out what all the Friends are up to. I’d watch it if it were free on TV and I wouldn’t pay $9 at the cinema. (Keep in mind SATC fans were already used to paying for HBO to get their fix. Friends fans like their entertainment free.)
