When I first got the DVD to review The Return of Jezebel James I was like do I really have to watch this. Well I finally put it in and I am shocked to admit I actually really like it.
Parker Posey plays a busy business woman who finds out she can’t have kids, so she asks her estranged jobless sister to bear her child. Six Feet Under’s Lauren Ambrose plays her sister that agrees to do it in order to have a place to live in for the duration of the pregnancy. I know it sounds like a weird premise, but it actually works! It is kind of like those irrelevant sitcoms in the ’80s that they used to do before Sienfeld did a show about nothing and sitcoms got serious.
So tune in the The Return of Jezebel James tonight on Fox at 8p.

I’m trying to enjoy it, as I adored Gilmore Girls writing and timing, but something about a laugh track running in the background just makes the humor seem so forced and makes it unfunny, when every joke gets a hahaha from the laugh track regardless of if it was even funny. I’ll try to watch it again, but I’m thinking the laugh track is hurting more than it could ever help.. I don’t need to be told when to laugh or that something is funny and feel annoyed when a laugh track is setup to do just that.. other than that, the show isn’t bad..
