[ # ] RENT closing on June 1st?
January 15th, 2008 under RENT

According to BroadwayWorld RENT will be evicted on June 1st. RENT has been on Broadway for over 12 years and spun-off a big screen version of the 7th longest running Broadway show.

In recent months Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp reprised their roles, no word if any of the other alumni (like Joey Fatone, Frenchie Davis and Drew Lachey) will also come back and do the show one last time but I hope they do!

It will be a sad day on Broadway when RENT finally moves out.

I agree, its increadibly sad. i have read that for the pas bit here they’ve been playing to maybe 50% full audiences. I wish it could go on forever…the vid of the producer on siteforrent.com is really nice i think

I can’t believe this. I am incredibly sad … RENT - to me - is one of the greatest musicals of all time. It’s like no other show out there. Everyone is going to miss it. =[

Somebody needs to organize some kind of protest to save it. I’m already planning a revival. . . i think i’ll wait 5 years maybe?

Well, since RENT was its closest competition, this just means Phantom of the Opera will run forever now. lol

I went to NYC just a year ago and knew nothing about Rent, so I missed the show, being an ignorant tourist. Right after that my music class performed Seasons Of Love and then I saw the movie and bought both versions of the the soundtracks because I instantly became a Renthead. Now I’ll never see it because I live on another continent!
