Your judgements against Woody Allen are based on sensationalistic misinformation. As mentioned above, Soon Yi is not his stepdaughter. He and Mia Farrow were never married and, in fact, never even lived together. I believe it is highly unlikely he ever had a father/daughter bond with Soon Yi. And she was 21,an adult, when the relationship began.

Based on his films and all I know of his life and interests, I think Woody Allen is a decent and sensitive person.

It was, of course, lousy of him to cheat on Mia with her adopted daughter. Even good people make mistakes, sometimes big ones. Yet his relationship with Soon Yi has stood the test of time.

Interesting ironies: Mia Farrow began an affair with Frank Sinatra when she was 19. When she was 21 she and Sinatra were married. He was 51.
After she and Sinatra were divorced, Mia had an affair with Andre Previn which ended his marriage. She and Previn were eventually married. The marriage lasted 8 years.

Yes have seen the movie about this last night.
He is definetely sick and pervert. If he cant stop himself from having afair.. with his childrens sibling.. adopted or not.. makes no difference its family, while in the same time.. having relationship with the mother.. its just sick. Girl was 17 years old.

I think that everybody who is judging this relationship needs to watch the movie “Wild Man Blues” about Woody Allen touring Europe with his Dixieland Jazz band. Soon-Yi is VERY vocal in the movie (so enough of this garbage about him “not letting her speak” — it’s a complete falsehood). She’s clearly a very competent, articulate and — yes, SANE — young woman, and this film shows it all. As a matter of fact, I’d even say that SHE is the one that adds a measure of stability to HIS somewhat neurotic existence. I’ve seen the movie Wild Man Blues, and actually thought the oposite. I was shocked by how subservient she was, and my friend who saw the movie with me said it to me the moment we got out of the theater. she acted like Woody’s servant or caretaker. it was bizarre.

Actually Soon Yi was SIXTEEN years old when the affair
with Woody Allen began. Mia Farrow found nude pictures of the then 16-year-old Soon Yi in Allen’s apartment, so that is the reason the affair is said to have begun when Soon Yi was underage. Does that not make it statutory rape?
I wonder at the contrast between Woody Allen, a brilliant but self-involved and immature man, who has spent decades on the analyst’s couch(what has he discovered in all that time?) and his son by Mia, Ronan Seamus Farrow, who went to college at age ELEVEN and has spent his young life doing serious and risky work around the world in the area of human rights advocacy. Ronan seems to have more maturity in his little finger than his father has had in his whole life.

Woody Allen and Soon-yi have deeper emotional problems than either Woody Allen and Soon-yi. All this anger about something that is really none of their business. Maybe that comes as a result of denying their own fantasies of love or from jealousy of the younger woman who plays more successfuly in their field.

allen — you have an interesting point. I think that, for the moment at least, that comment streams following news stories are a fascinating place to look at the slimy underbelly of human psychology. You can see projection, confabulation, identification — and so much emotion! All from people who have no real information or investment in the situation itself.
