She is expected to appear on the show later this year and is quite from her role on Loose Women; she has regularly appeared alongside other female presenters to give comment on topical news items and to interview celebrity guests.

It was thought previously that Jamelia may appear in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Which, in fact, airs at around the same time as Strictly Come Dancing. The star was rumoured to be appearing on the next series airing in November, as she was seen as an ideal contestant due to having previously been on the Bear Grylls series, Mission Survive. The latter entertaining programme followed eight celebrities on a twelve-day survival mission in harsh environments. The latest season saw her finish in fourth place, but even after this performance, she chose to move away from survival shows to become involved in a show that revolves around performance, something that Jamelia has shown an expertise in.

As well as her successful stints in entertainment programming, she’s manage to make a name for herself in the independent film world, bagging acting roles in movies such as Jericho’s Walls Are Falling
and Magic boys, demonstrating another addition to her talents.

Jamelia started her career early when she was signed to a record label straight out of school at the age of just fifteen. Her music career took off in 1999 when she released her first single So High and later her debut album ‘Drama’ in June 2000. She is best known for her smash hits Superstar and Thank You, both of which charted at third and second place respectively in the UK Singles Chart. Superstar also went on to chart at No.1 in Australia and eventually went platinum. In 2010, after having made three albums, she decided to sign a new record deal with the label All Around the World Productions.

Jamelia’s success and popularity has led her to achieve some high-up roles in entertainment programmes, such as becoming a judge on the programme Move Like Michael Jackson. She has also earned her place in three TV documentaries, presenting two on BBC Three entitled Jamelia: Whose Hair Is It Anyway and Jamelia: Shame about Single Mums, as well as featuring in Channel 4’s The House That Made Me. Through these programmes, she acts to inform the general public about issues that concern many of the public.

Jamelia is also very involved in charity and has helped raise £40,000 with the Princes Trust for disadvantaged young people. As an ambassador for the charity, she also acts to offer her support through public appearances on behalf of the Trust. Jamelia has been described as having demonstrated confidence and motivation throughout her career, values that the charity hope to impart to young people needing their help. She has been a highly influential figure in Birmingham, the city where she was born, as well as the rest of the English Midlands.
