[ # ] TV Land and The Exes are now exes
August 11th, 2015 under TV Land

TV Land cancelled The Exes yesterday according to the show’s star Kristen Johnston. With that cancellation, that means they have officially cancelled all of their multicam sitcoms for single camera ones. I think that they have had major mistake. Not only because Hot In Cleveland and The Exes have been their best original shows, but because their new shows suck. Not only that, all of the syndicated sitcoms that they air, are multicams too. Multicams have a longer life than the single camera ones. Both Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother, have not done as well in syndication like some of other modern multicams like the ones from Chuck Lorre.
I don’t have a problem with single camera sitcoms, I just have a problem with the ones on TV Land. I didn’t mind Younger, I just think it tried too hard to be relevant. There’s a difference between being funny by pushing the envelope and pushing the envelope to get laughs. When it comes to The Jim Gaffigan Show, to me it is clean and boring version of Louie. Why would watch that, if I can just watch the original funnier version. Finally, there is Impastor and that show doesn’t have a prayer. Even though it has been doing crappy in the ratings, TV Land still pulled the plug on The Exes that has been doing better than its lead in. Why, it doesn’t make sense? The Exes has a loyal fan base and I know it will do well on their air in repeats. Can the same be said about the two shows that air before it? Since you don’t know what they are, the answer is no.
So TV Land, you lost a viewer because The Exes was the last show of yours I was watching. Antenna TV and MeTV have proven to be better at showing the oldies but goodies than you are and that is your bread and butter. Since you forgot that, I am sure you will get a reminder when The Soul Man and The Exes are no longer airing new episodes on your air.
Are you becoming exes with TV Land like me?
