[ # ] Fall in deep love with Galavant tonight!!!
January 4th, 2015 under Galavant

This year, when I watched all of the new shows, I was sincerely impressed by how good they were. Then, I pressed play on the musical fairytale comedy Galavant and it made all of those other shows look average. You see, this show, that debuts on ABC tonight at 8p, is beyond amazing. It has everything you want and so much more. It is the type of show you will fall in love with from note one and never ever want to break up with. Even though, Madalena does that to poor Galavant, but I digress.
When I was a little girl, Little Shop of Horrors and Little Mermaid were some of my favorite musicals. So of course, when I heard that Alan Menken, the man who wrote the music for those musicals, was attached to Galavant, I couldn’t wait to see what he had done.
The first number will be stuck in your head and you will be singing it when the kids go to sleep. You see, this is a fairytale for us adults and not for them. It’s about time, we had one! And one that is so enjoyable like Galvant!
So what is the story behind this show? The heroic and much adored Galavant (Joshua Sasse) is in love with Madalena (Mallory Jansen), but she is kidnapped by King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Once she is in his clutches, he forces her to marry him. Galavant tries to win her back, but the bitch, I mean maiden, decides she likes the fame and fortune better than him and becomes King Richard’s Queen.
Months have passed and he is now heartbroken and a shell of the man he used to be. One day, his Squire Sid (Luke Youngblood) introduces him Princess Isabella Lucia Maria Elizabetta of Valencia (Karen David). King Richard and his Henchman, Gareth (Vinnie Jones), have seized her family and her land; and she wants Galavant to help her get her Kingdom back.
Now, the three of them begin their journey to destroy King Richard and get back the people they love most. Along the way, they will all have an adventure that is unlike anything you have ever seen on television.
Tonight at 8:30p on the second episode, Galavant, Sid and the Princess, need some extra money, so they enter our hero in a jousting competition. Galavant will face his arch-nemesis Jean Hamm (John Stamos) in a Joust that is something you have to see to believe. Plus, we get a love song that’s content is truly original.
Just like the show itself. It isn’t only the story and the music that make this musical fairytale comedy so whimsical; it is also the perfect casting and how loveable each one of them are on the series. Timothy Omundson, is probably the most known member of the cast because of Psych, and his role on this show is nothing like Lassie. Even though you should hate him, you can’t! Then there is the lead, Joshua Sasse, who has a voice of an angel and everything else to match. Luke Youngblood, has his own episode coming up next week where he goes home, and you will plotz when you see it. Wink wink. Karen David might be little, but she has a big beautiful voice. In episode 6, Sasse and her have a duet and their voices together is perfect harmony. Mallory Jansen is perfect as the evil Queen, you will easily hate her and that is a good thing.
Then there are the guest stars. John Stamos starts it off and this is the role he was born to play. It is unlike anything he has ever done before and it is his best work yet. Weird Al Yankovic appears on the show next week as a singing Monk. Need I say more. Then in episode 6, Ricky Gervais plays a wizard who has a trippy song number in it and you’ll be surprised by how well he can actually belt out a tune.
Finally, there is Darren Evans who plays the Chef. If you don’t fall in love with the instant you see him, then there is something seriously wrong with you. He is the cutest thing on television and you will be looking forward to every scene he is in. Wait until he finally gets a song and dance number in episode 5, you will just want to reach through the screen to hug and squeeze him.
There is so much to love, adore and admire about Galavant, so why not tune in for the best new show on television this year tonight at 8p for an hour for the next four Sundays. In fact, after watching 6 episodes, I think I will declare that is one of the best show ever!!!
