[ # ] Bono apologizes for the free album!
October 14th, 2014 under U2

U2 answered our questions on Facebook and someone told the band to never release an automatically downloaded free album on iTunes ever again. Bono responded by saying, “Oops. I’m sorry about that.” Then he added, “I had this beautiful idea. We got carried away with ourselves. Artists are prone to that kind of thing. Drop of megalomania, touch of generosity, dash of self-promotion, and deep fear that these songs that we poured our life into over the last few years mightn’t be heard.” He concluded by saying, “There’s a lot of noise out there. I guess we got a little noisy ourselves to get through it.”
And they got through it by taking over our iTunes. I liked the idea of a free album at first, but every time one of their songs from Songs of Innocence comes on, I can’t hit FF fast enough. It was nice listening to it the first time around, but then it was like not another one of their songs on my iPhone, bloody iPhone. I guess you can say his beautiful idea is like one of the songs off of Zooropa. You know, Lemon.
