[ # ] NOW not happy with ANTM
March 23rd, 2007 under America's Next Top Model

(photo from ONTD)

TV Guide is saying that the NY National Organization for Women is not too happy with America's Next Top Model's photoshoot from Wednesday's show. The photoshoot consisted of the models posing as crime scene photos. One model was electrocuted, another strangled, another one had her organs removed, another shot in the head, you get the idea, I thought the photos were gross and not fashion, but I like paparazzi photo so what do I know. Here is how NOW felt, "Violence against women is such a reality in our society that I certainly don't need the entertainment industry making entertainment out of it." They also said,"supremely ironic" for a show "geared toward women and about women, and about glamour." I so have to agree with them on this one. I miss the good old days on ANTM when the shoots were normal the last two years have been over the top and have not shown the models at their best.

Why is it that all of the people who love ANTM, and are raving about the meaning of these pictures are unable to spell or use proper punctuation? Oh. I remember. Because you are ignorant. I do agree with those that say it is blown out of proportion in its importance, but honestly…of all the thingsthat ANTM glorifies, does murder really have to be one of them?

The idea that making a shoot out of crime scenes is glorifying violence makes me breathless…I am fully confident that the same people who spout this tripe are happy to gawp in wonderment at a “good, entertaining Gangster film” yet present to them an idea where women are the vocal force and they clam up. If you have no appreciation of the ACTUAL effect of art, of the media, and feel that dumbing women down (and models especially) is the true righteous path to equality, then good luck to you, but your naivety will be destroyed one day, and in the good modern culture we live in, you’ll go and get therapy. That is because everything else is to blame, not yourself, of course, so you need help ridding yourself of your demons. Please grow up.

What is everybody’s problem? It’s a freaking photo shoot… it’s a neat concept. It’s something different other than “Oh look at how pretty I can be.” Why does everyone in America have to take things so literally… it’s art.. get off your high horse and deal with it.

I honestly think that people tend to over react! It’s a photo shoot calm down it just shows that even though there dressed up to look dead they look stunning. Part of the damn challenge is to prove that you can pull off ANY look no matter what!

its just a little picture..
