Remember when Weezer was groundbreaking and rad? After what I have been reading about them in the last few weeks, it’s been getting harder and harder for me to remember that.
First it was bad when I read that they recorded a song with American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert. Then I heard (see below) they were spotted performing with Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester at a show in NYC over the weekend. But the straw that broke camel’s back for me came today when I saw that Weezer is selling personalized Snuggies to sell their latest CD Raditude that is out tomorrow. Seriously when did they get so lame that they are selling blankets with sleeves to promote their music. I mean even The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Tom Jones wouldn’t do something so geriatric. I want to know when Weezer became such big sell outs to do all of the above? It happened so rapidly, I don’t think any of us saw it coming. Did you?
BTW now having said all of that I so want a Weezer Snuggie and Raditude! It’s only $30 maybe I will splurge for the blue one!

For pete’s sake, they’re being ironic! Like Dave Grohl’s Mentos-themed music video. They’re having fun with a cheezy product! If you don’t get this, YOU are absolutely squaresville.
…its a parody… no one can seriously think that this is a real commercial. the ‘weezer’ logo was superimposed on a lot of that footage. try having a sense of humor instead of taking everything so seriously.

For all we know, Leighton is a cool chick. I know nothing about her, but we certainly don’t know about her hobbies, taste, and sense of culture. She works a crap job, just like the rest of us!
I don’t know Adam Lambert. I live under a rock, and there’s no American Idol down here. Its either meant to be ironic, or just maybe this Lambert has a killer voice.

I don’t think they sold out. They are definitely being ironic and it is working. I’m not sure if I would be caught dead in a snuggle, regardless if it is official Weezer merchandise.
For one, Weezer is still the shit. Their music is going on 15 years, it’s not that they sold out it’s just that they have evolved. I can’t wait to go to their show and I really want one of those Snuggies.

The snuggie might just have been a joke, and a collab with pretty much anyone isn’t bad I mean who gives fuck about that. But, I knew Weezer had definitely sold out after they did this commercial for FLIP FUCKING VIDEO
It was like 6 seconds but what kind of stupidity is that. Have they lost their fucking minds. I can understand representing something musical, like iTunes and shit but seriously its a fucking video camera, how desperate are you guys for money.
