Jessica Simpson’s balloon popped!
June 30th, 2013 under Jessica Simpson. [ Comments: none ]

For the first time in what seems like forever, Jessica Simpson is not pregnant. That is because she gave birth to her son today via C-Section and his name is Ace Knute (pronounced Ka-nute) according to Us Weekly. Ace has a bigger sister, by only 14 months, and I am sure Maxwell Drew will be happy to meet her little brother!
No word when Jessica Simpson will marry her baby daddy, Eric Johnson, but it will be sooner rather than later if she doesn’t get pregnant again before they say I do!

Brooke Elliott on the duplicity of her Drop Dead Diva role!
June 30th, 2013 under Lifetime. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 9p on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva New Jane aka Deb in Jane’s old body meets Dead Jane in someone else’s body. Sounds confusing, well imagine if you are the actress playing the woman whose soul is now in someone else’s body.
I was recently on a conference call with Brooke Elliott and she talked about just that. She said, “You know, it’s funny. When I’m Deb, Deb in Jane’s body, which is the Jane everyone knows, and hopefully loves.” Then she added, “It’s actually the funniest part of the show for me. The most fun is that I get to be Deb, but I get to figure out when Jane’s qualities are influencing here, which is a lot of fun.”
She also has to go internal to figure out how to portray her character(s) as she explained to us, “So, I always come from Deb’s perspective because it’s Deb’s soul in Jane’s body, but a lot of times Jane’s brain kind of affects her and makes her decisions possibly different than what she would normally have decided, and that’s a lot of fun for me.”
Now tonight she has to play a different role on the inside, but still have the same body on the outside. She enjoyed that cause she told us, “When I got to play old Jane, that was a lot of fun and it was a huge challenge, because I don’t know old Jane as much as I know Deb because I play Deb every day.”
So how did she feel about playing this new role? She said, “And so, playing old Jane was really, really fun and very challenging to figure out who this person what, and how she’s different. And because I’m the body of both, that’s an even bigger challenge because when you just figure out just exactly how old Jane stands and behaves, and how does she gesture and where is her emotional life living, as opposed to Deb, which we’re so familiar with? You know the hair flipping and how Deb walks and all those things? So, it’s actually – one of my most favorite parts of doing this character.”
So do you have a better grasp of what Brooke Elliott went through to prepare for tonight’s episode or is still like legal jargon to you? Either way tune in to watch Brooke Elliott play Deb inside of New Jane and Dead Jane in her own Jane body tonight at 9p on Lifetime.

Dexter prepares to say goodbye as Ray Donovan says hello!
June 30th, 2013 under Showtime. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 9p Dexter (Michael C Hall) is back for one more killer season on Showtime. The episode takes place 6 months after Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) killed María LaGuerta and she is still not over what happened. She has pretty much cut her brother out of her life and he doesn’t know how to handle it. But he will have bigger things on his plate when Evelyn Vogel (Charlotte Rampling), a neuro-psychiatrist specializing in child psychopaths comes to town. She has a connection to Dexter that he doesn’t know about and it will make things very interesting. But not as interesting as what happens at the end of the 4th episode. But I am getting a head of myself.

Then at 10p it is time to meet Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber). He is a Hollywood fixer-upper. As in if you get in trouble, he will get you out of it anyway he can and he doesn’t care who he hurts. Besides dealing with his job, he has to deal with his family that has its own set of issues. He has a f*cked up father (Jon Voight) who just got out jail and wants to reconnect with him even though Ray wants nothing to do with Mickey. Mickey wants to be in all of his sons’ lives, but he still hasn’t fixed his ways. So he starts out by killing the Priest who molested one of his sons when was younger. That makes amends, right?
Then there is Ray’s wife, Abby (Paula Malcomson), and kids. His wife doesn’t trust him and his kids wants more.
Finally there are Ray’s bosses, Ezra Goodman (Elliott Gould) and Lee Drexler (Peter Jacobson) who are just f*cked up as he is, but they think they are better than it all. Or do they?
The first thing you will realize about Ray Donovan, is that he needs to hire himself to fix up his life. But that doesn’t mean the drama needs fixing because it is one great Hollywood tale that you won’t be able to say no to.
The only thing that bums me out, is that there is no way for Showtime to do a crossover episode with Ray Donovan and Californication’s Hank Moody. If ever there were two characters that needed each other, it is these two!
