5 Things You Should Know About The CW’s Riverdale
January 26th, 2017 under The CW. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 9p on The CW, Archie Comics is getting a modern retell in Riverdale and there are some things you should know about the teenage murder mystery before it airs. Here’s what the producers and cast told about the show at The CW’s TCA Winter Press Day!

1 – According to Producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa they originally wanted him to travel through time. When that idea didn’t seem to work, they thought about having him travel through portals. They laughed off that idea until they suggested to make Archie Louis CK and the episode should be like Entourage. As we know, all of those ideas did not happen. Thankfully, they met with Producer extraordinaire Greg Berlanti who suggested it be a coming of age story with a “dead body.”

2 – Beverly Hills, 90210’s Luke Perry describes it as, “A little bit of a Peach Pit vibe, but kind of a freaky Peach Pit, you know, scary, textured, intricate Peach Pit.”

3 – Josie and the Pussycats Dolls are on the show too and next week the rework The Archies’ classic song Sugar, Sugar.

4 – Next season, if the show gets picked up, we will see another character from Arhcie Comics, Sabrina the Teen Witch. She will be nothing like the character Melissa Joan Hart played, instead she will be more like Rosemary’s Baby. Whatever that means.

5 – Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead, had come off of a three week binge of The Twilight Zone when he auditioned for the role, so he channeled his inner Rod Sterling when he read for the part. As you can guess the Producers liked it!

Just like you will like the show that debuts tonight.

The CW resurrects Constantine!
January 9th, 2017 under DC Comics, The CW. [ Comments: none ]

NBC breathed life into Constantine, only to squash it. Then The CW gave him life for a night and they realized that people still wanted to see him live and help other people live. Therefore, they resurrecting him from the dead. In fact, you can say they are re-animating him. Actually, they are animating him.
Yesterday at The CW’s TCA Winter Press Day Mark Pedowitz, President of the network announced that, “Constantine is back as a new animated series for the CW Seed platform. It is from DC Comics, team (Greg) Berlanti and David S. Goyer and, of course, will feature star Matt Ryan as John Constantine.” Then he added, “Like our other animated CW Seed animated series, Vixen and”The Ray, we’ll have about five or six episodes that are about ten minutes each, premiering in the ’17 ’18 season.” That’s right, Ryan will reprise the role of the lovable anti-hero.
As of now that is all they know, but we know it is a magical thing to have him back in whatever way we can.

The CW is not ready to break up with Crazy Ex Girlfriend and 6 more shows!
January 8th, 2017 under Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, DC Comics, Jane the Virgin, Supernatural, The CW. [ Comments: none ]

The CW started off their TCA press day announcing that they picked up 7 other their shows for next season. They are Supergirl, Jane the Virgin, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Supernatural and Crazy Ex Girlfriend. Yes, the last one the list is not doing well in the ratings, but it is one of the most original shows on television today. Creatively they have lost their way this season, but it is still enjoyable. Just like Supernatural that is going into their lucky 13th season. Yes, 13! I hope the producers play with that. How fun will that be?
Waiting to get picked up are Frequency, No Tomorrow, The 100, iZombie, Riverdale and The Originals with the latter 4 yet to air any new episodes this season. Definitely not coming back are The Vampire Diaries and Reign will be ending their, well, reigns their season.
How do you feel about the pick ups and which ones do you want to get renewed? I am rooting for iZombie because this is the best show you are not watching!

Reign’s reign is over at The CW
December 7th, 2016 under The CW. [ Comments: none ]

The CW announced today that this will be Reign’s last season on their network. Is the news a surprise? If you saw the ratings, then the biggest surprise is that it is actually coming back for a 4th one in February. I know I stopped watching once they killed off Francis.
It went from a love story to a political one that no one cared about. So I say Au Revoir!

What CW shows will be back for the midseason and which ones won’t
November 16th, 2016 under The CW. [ Comments: none ]

The CW announced their midseason lineup and missing are the newbies No Tomorrow and Frequency, along with my personal favorite Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
So what goes in their place? DC’s Legends of Tomorrow moves to Tuesdays on January 24th to finish out its second season. Then on April 4th, iZombie is finally back! Which hurts my brain because I am hungry for it now.
On Wednesday, February 1st, The 100 is back. But the Thursday before that Supernatural gets another new timeslot to make room for Riverdale. The show that is named after my hometown and yet I have no temptation to see how they destroy the Archies. Seriously, why say it is characters from the beloved comic book and animated series; and make it about a murder in a small town drama. I was saying more than Sugar, Sugar when I watched that trailer.
Then there is Reign that is by some miracle coming back. Who still watches that period drama that is so far removed from the original concept. On that note, The Originals will be back on March 17th.
How do you feel about their Spring lineup?
