When Lin-Manuel Miranda met Hamilton!
September 13th, 2017 under Lin-Manuel Miranda. [ Comments: none ]

In case you have not heard, Lin-Manuel Miranda played Alexander Hamilton in a little Broadway musical he wrote, directed and starred in called Hamilton. But how is the New York Puerto Rican going to meet the man who died 213 years ago? He is not. So what happens if he comes across a statue of one America’s founding fathers? Hamilton looks at him, like “Where’s my cut of the pie, bitch?” Something Mirnada owes him a lot of Alexander Hamiltons aka $10 bills for all the Benjamin Franklins he made off of the Tony winning show.

James Corden and Lin-Manuel Miranda get fully naked for Hair!
August 18th, 2017 under James Corden, Lin-Manuel Miranda. [ Comments: none ]

James Corden put on another Crosswalk Musical outside the CBS studios where he tapes The Late Late Show and this time he is doing Hair. The host got a huge name to guest star with him and that name is Lin-Manuel Miranda. The two men along with several background dancers took it to the streets of Fairfax and belted out Age of Aquarius and Hair to the several frustrated drivers who are stuck in LA traffic. Suddenly they were less upset.

But then everyone got a big surprise for the musical’s final number Let the Sunshine In. For those of you not familiar with the Broadway play, that is where the cast gets naked. CBS and California told the two Tony winners that they could not go full monty in public, but did they listen? Nope, they let the sunshine in all over their bodies. That’s right we saw their sun and moon as the passerbys were singing Good Morning Starshine in their cars if know what I mean!

The only problem I had with that number was seeing Corden’s mic pack coming out of his butt. Let’s not assume what was holding it in place…

Finally, Hair and Little Shop of Horrors are my favorite musicals, so I am very critical of all renditions of both shows. And all I have to say is they did the musical proud! Bravo! Bravo! Franks Mills would give it two penises up! White Boys, Black Boys and people from Manchester, England across the Atlantic sea would love this crosswalk version as much as I do!

Lin-Manuel Miranda answers if there will be a Hamilton movie
June 28th, 2017 under Lin-Manuel Miranda. [ Comments: none ]

Hairspray, Into the Woods, The Producers, Dreamgirls, Rent, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Les Misérables are just a few of the more recent Broadway musicals that have transitioned from the Great White Way to the big screen. Therefore, it only makes sense for Al Roker today on Today to ask Lin-Manuel Miranda if his Tony Award winning show Hamilton will do the same. The Broadway baby told him that he supposes so, but he is still waiting for Wicked and Book of Mormon to get their day in the projector light. But after that and a few others, “Yeah, at some point.”

I am sure it will get a movie adaptation before the other two that he mentioned because if they have not done Wicked by now, who knows if they ever will? I would love to see them both go from Broadway to Hollywood, so hopefully the big wigs will make it happen sooner rather than later.

Are you excited for Hamilton: The Movie?

The cast of Hamilton gives Mike Pence a powerful message!
November 19th, 2016 under Admirable People, Broadway, Lin-Manuel Miranda. [ Comments: none ]

When Donald Trump was elected, those of us who are not Straight White Christian Men became afraid. We are afraid that his administration that is anti Women and Same-Sex rights and Freedom of Religion will create an unsafe environment for those of us who don’t look and act like the Vice President Elect.
Yesterday that man, Mike Pence, attended a Hamilton performance and the musical’s star had a message for him. Brandon Victor Dixon implored him to listen to what he has to say, “We have a message for you, sir. We hope that you will hear us out…Vice President-Elect Pence, we welcome you, and we truly thank you for joining us here at Hamilton: An American Musical. We really do. We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us, all of us. We truly thank you for sharing this show, this wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men, women, of different colors, creeds, and orientations.”
Pence came into our house, and as a guest I hope he heard what we have to say. We want to America to keep moving forward and not backwards into a time where people of different colors, races, religions, sex and sexual preference were not allowed to be free. That is not asking for too much.
If you can’t handle what a man so eloquently had to say to you, then maybe you should not be a heartbeat away from being President.
Don’t send your goon, I mean President Elect Donald Trump, to do your dirty work. Do it yourself.
As we say in NYC, grow a pair! Because what Brandon Victor Dixon said is how most Americans feel and he did not say anything offensive or threatening or anything that warrants an apology. He spoke from the heart, something I don’t think you or your goon have.
And with that my tricorn is off to the cast of Hamilton!

UPDATE: Lin-Miranda Manuel Tweeted this response to his casts’ peaceful and inspirational message, “Proud of @HamiltonMusical. Proud of @BrandonVDixon, for leading with love. And proud to remind you that ALL are welcome at the theater.”

UPDATE 2: Brandon Victor Dixon had this to say to Donald Trump who told him to apologize to Pence, “@realDonaldTrump conversation is not harassment sir. And I appreciate @mike_pence for stopping to listen.” Amen!
Trump has a lot of nerve to ask anyone to apologize when he can’t do it himself.

Hey Lin-Manuel Miranda, is that Tony Award in your pocket?
September 21st, 2016 under In Your Pocket?, Lin-Manuel Miranda. [ Comments: none ]

Lin-Manuel Miranda posed for GQ magazine and all I could look at was the Heights of his Hamilton. Seriously, I can’t be the only looking at his Tony winner. Aren’t you staring at it too?
If you can look up, then you will be like when did he get so hot? He looks like Robert Downey Jr in a way. That is not how he looked when he was in his little Broadway Musical. I approve of the change. He definitely made my Jabba Flow!
