Coming 2 America is better than the original
March 5th, 2021 under Arsenio Hall, Eddie Murphy, Prime Video. [ Comments: none ]

Before I watched Coming 2 America, which is out on Amazon Prime now, I watched Coming to America to compare the two. Also to remember what happened in the 1988 movie because I have not seen it in a long time. What was my biggest takeaway? Good things come to wait.

Had Eddie Murphy done the sequel immediately, it would not have been as good. This way, he was able to formulate a story that was fitting. Along with adding a lot of funny people to the sequel while also rehiring a lot of actors from the original.

Seriously, the best part is that so many people like John Amos, James Earl Jones, and Garcelle Beauvais came back for the second round. They are just a few of the many cast members who came back. I am beyond impressed with how many people did both movies. And I am not talking about all the dual roles that Murphy and Arsenio Hall played and played again. Saul has to be at least 100.

Now, let’s talk about the movie that takes place 30 years after the first one. Prince Akeem (Murphy) is still married to Lisa (Shari Headley), and they have three beautiful daughters (KiKi Layne, Bella Murphy, and Akiley Love).

King Jaffe Joffer (Jones) wants his Kingdom passed down to a grandson. When the King finds out that the Prince fathered a son in the Land of Queens, he sends Akeen to bring him back to Zamunda.

But wait, how did Akeem father a son? That will be explained and shown to us.

Back to the search for his son. Akeem and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) go back to Queens and meet up with some old friends who know his son. They tell him where he can find Lavelle Junson (Jermaine Fowler). How will it go when they meet him? Better than when they meet his mother (Leslie Jones) and uncle (Tracy Morgan).

Akeem tells them they have to go back to Zamunda with him so that Lavelle can prepare to be the future King. That is when the movie really starts to get funny!

It might seem like I am not telling you a lot, and I am not. I want you to enjoy the movie as I did. We waited almost 33 years for it, so we deserve to enjoy it without too many spoilers.

I promise you will love this movie just like you did the original. It is Eddie Murphy at his best. When he is at his best, our stomachs suffer. That is because we are laughing so hard with him.

We all need a good laugh these days, and Coming 2 America delivers tenfold. Make a date with Amazon Prime because you are going to want to watch this movie over and over again. Just like you watched Coming to America many, many times.

Finally a trailer for Coming 2 America
December 22nd, 2020 under Arsenio Hall, Eddie Murphy, Prime Video. [ Comments: 1 ]

I feel like we have been hearing about Coming 2 America for decades. Well, the movie finally became a reality, it was filmed, and now it is getting ready to debut March 5th on Amazon Prime.

Do you know what that means? That means we finally get to watch the trailer. It brilliantly starts off like The Lion King, and then it turns into the sequel we have been waiting 32 years for. About time they released it.

How excited are you to see Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall back to their old hijinx together? And why didn’t anyone tell me Jermaine Fowler is in it? I love him, and I am so happy he got a part in this film.

Coming 2 America is coming 2 Amazon Prime
October 13th, 2020 under Arsenio Hall, Coronavirus, Eddie Murphy, Prime Video. [ Comments: none ]

Most movie theaters are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. They don’t even know if and when they will open their doors again. Therefore, Bill & Ted: Face the Music, and Mulan skipped the theaters and opted to stream online. Now, Coming 2 America is doing the same thing.

The long-awaited and anticipated sequel will begin streaming on Amazon Prime, most likely on December 18th, according to Variety. The movie stars Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Tracy Morgan, and Jermaine Fowler.

I bet if it does well, then Wonder Woman: 1984 and James Bond: No Time to Die will probably skip the big screen too. Would you watch these movies from the comfort of your home, or do you have to see the movies at the movies??

The Arsenio Hall Show cancelled after getting a 2nd season pickup
May 30th, 2014 under Arsenio Hall. [ Comments: none ]

Just a few a weeks after The Arsenio Hall Show was picked up for a second season, CBS Television Distribution decided to cancel it. According to Variety, the show was facing downgrades from several stations and the syndicated late night show became too expensive to produce.
Not only was the show cancelled after being told it would be back. Arsenio will not get a goodbye show because production was halted immediately on the show permanently. The talk show was in repeats this week and will not be doing any new ones in the future. And I think that is unfair to late night legend. He should have been allowed to have a sendoff week. Don’t you think?
BTW come September, Late Night will once again be an all white man’s game because with Arsenio gone now and Chelsea Handler leaving in August, that leaves Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, David Letterman, Craig Ferguson (only non-American by birth), Jon Stewart (the only Jew) and Stephen Colbert. So CBS that leaves it up to you to add some variety to late night when you replace Craig Ferguson. I still suggest JB Smoove, Craig Robinson, Tracy Morgan, Jane Lynch and/or Matthew Perry.
And after I typed all of that, I forgot that come next year we are getting The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore. But I still think we need a little more variety on late night. If daytime can do it, why can’t they do the same 12 hours later?
Finally, this has been a really crappy week for Arsenio. Not only did he lose his show, he also lost out on his bid to buy the Clippers.

Michael Emerson gets Happy as he sings the song!!!
May 7th, 2014 under Arsenio Hall, Lost. [ Comments: none ]

Ever since we fell in love with Michael Emerson on Lost, we have thought of him as a very intense actor. Well tonight he was on The Arsenio Hall Show and the Person of Interest wanted to show us his lighter side. So he sang the best cover version we’ve heard of Pharrell Williams’ Oscar nominated song, Happy. And the cherry on top is he even donned that infamous hat that The Voice coach wears.
If this doesn’t make you happy, nothing will. So get lost in the moment, clap along and watch this performance over and over and over again!
