Richard Simmons reveals why Oprah Winfrey stopped booking him
February 26th, 2024 under Oprah Winfrey, Richard Simmons. [ Comments: 1 ]

Oprah Winfrey used to have Richard Simmons on her show all the time, but then she stopped. Today, The Weight Guru explained what went wrong.

I have a little lump in my throat as I write this. She is one of the most powerful and adored women. She is the queen of TV…an actress…producer…a book writer… and a lecturer. When she talks, everyone listens. She has billions of followers. All you have to think of is her first name. I am speaking about Oprah.

In the 80s, she flew me out to Baltimore, Maryland to do her local talk show. She greeted me with a smile and a hug. She dressed so beautifully. She was a fashionista. I still remember a long colorful silk scarf that draped around her upper body and tied on her shoulder. When I told her my story, she was interested and showed her happiness for me.

Later when she moved to Chicago, she had me on again. Again only kindness emanated from her. I watched her show every day. She could interview anybody and her audience adored her. When she walked on stage the audience went crazy.

One day she walked out pulling a red wagon …and in the wagon was some kind of lard or fat representing the amount of weight that she lost. Oprah wore a turtleneck and a pair of jeans. She radiated light.

I was coming out of a studio where I met a national gossip columnist named Cindy Adams. She was petite with perfect make up and coiffed hair. She asked me “what do you think of Oprah’s weight loss?” I replied “as long as Oprah exercises and eats healthy she will be fine.”

The next day she wrote a column and the headline was Richard Simmons thinks Oprah will gain all of her weight back and some. I never said that. She made it up to sell newspapers. I forgave Cindy because that is the kind of person that I am.

When Oprah read this I was erased from her life. I was never asked to be on her show again. She never ever forgave me for something I did not say.

I still respect Oprah. Her heart is filled with helping people just like me. I still remember the two times I did her show. I never talked to a gossip columnist again. The world is a better place because of Oprah.

I hope someone tells Mrs. O about this post, and she forgives him. Because if anyone could get him out of hiding. It is her.

Richard Simmons shares another positive message on social media
January 24th, 2024 under Richard Simmons. [ Comments: 1 ]

Ever since Richard Simmons took to social media to let us know that he did not give permission to Pauly Shore to release a biopic about him, he hasn’t stopped posting something positive almost every day.

Today, The Weight Saint wrote, “I don’t know what you are going through in your life, but I want you to stay as positive as you can. Things will get better. I promise you.”

I hope he is taking his own advice. And things are always getting better for him.

I know I keep saying this, but I feel like he is thinking of coming out of his nearly nine-year hibernation and returning to us. What do you think?

Richard Simmons lets us know he’s fine and happy
January 22nd, 2024 under Richard Simmons. [ Comments: none ]

Richard Simmons/Facebook

Last week, Pauly Shore announced that he is making a biopic about Richard Simmons. And The Weight Saint broke his nearly decade of pretty much silence to say he did not give permission for the film to be made.

Since then, Simmons has written two more messages on Facebook. The first one, was a message telling us to be “happy and peaceful” and that he is praying for us.

Today’s message was an update about him. “I wanted you all to know that I am fine and I am happy,” Simmons wrote. “I have had a lot of people ask me for interviews. But right now I don’t want to do them. It is a gray and rainy day here in Los Angeles, but my heart is filled with your kindness towards me.”

Am I the only one getting the feeling that he might be getting ready to return to the public eye? With these latest posts, the comments are reminding him how much we love him. Maybe that reminder is just what he needs.

If he decides to come out of hiding, we are here to welcome him with open arms. If not, then our arms are still open to him, and we send him virtual hugs!

What do you think of Pauly Shore’s Richard Simmon’s short film?
January 21st, 2024 under Pauly Shore, Richard Simmons. [ Comments: none ]

For a while, Pauly Shore has been trying to make a movie about his doppelganger, Richard Simmons. And he finally made a short about The Weight Saint’s life.

The Court Jester had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, and then it was released for everyone to watch on YouTube.

The less than ten-minute short is mostly credits and a scene that could be part of the movie which does not have Simmons’ “permission.”

It takes place later in Simmons’ life when he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The production is cheap, and the casting of Ellen was atrocious. But the story told was sweet, and makes us miss Simmons even more than we do.

While I am more willing to accept Shore’s potential movie because I think he will honor Simmons correctly. I still wish he would get Simmons’ approval.

What do you think of Shore’s short?

Richard Simmons shares an inspirational message
January 19th, 2024 under Hot Links!, Richard Simmons. [ Comments: none ]

Richard Simmons has been mostly silent for almost a decade. But this week, he broke his silence twice.

First, he made it clear he was not involved in Pauly Shore’s biopic about him.

And today, he posted a message for all of us. “All I want for all of you is to be happy and peaceful. Please don’t let anyone be mean to you or put you down,” he wrote. “You don’t deserve that. Never forget I keep all of you in my prayers every single night. Know your worth.”

And Mr. Simmons, You are in our prayers. I hope you are well because you have made so many people happy. And you deserve to have happiness.
