Neil Diamond has released several Christmas Carols throughout his career but I don’t think he’s ever turned any of his songs into a Christmas one. Well yesterday that all changed on The Late Late Show when James Corden asked him to rework his tune Sweet Caroline into a Sweet Christmanstime and now we all have a song we go Caroling to. Well maybe only at work the day after the Holiday party and change up the names, but still…
For an added bonus, here he is singing a Christmas Melody!
Sweet Caroline has been played at Fenway park since at least 1997 and every game there since 2002. Well after the Boston Marathon Bombing the song has taken on even more of a special meaning to the strong city. So on Saturday Neil Diamond surprised the people of Boston and sang their song at the Red Sox game during the 8th inning. Since then the 1969 song has been climbing the charts again, selling 19,000 copies since the last Monday. Instead of pocketing the money the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer he is making from the 597% increase of sales in the last week, he Tweeted “Donating these royalties to #OneFund!”
Just in case you needed another reason to love Neil Diamond, now you have one.
If you would like to donate to One Fund, the nonprofit set up to help those most affected by what happened on April 15th, then you can go to the charity’s website and do so.
On April 21st Neil Diamond married his manager Katie McNeil and today he shared a picture from the wedding. He Tweeted the romantic photo and said, “Our first dance as husband and wife before all hell broke loose on the dance floor…” How happy does the beautiful couple as they share their first dance as married couple?
BTW I wonder how many of the songs that played that night were his? Afterall he has so many love songs in his repertoire.
Neil Diamond has found his Sweet Caroline and her name is Katie McNeil! The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Tweeted “Good news coming from sunny LA/ and you’re the first I want to tell/ Katie & I just got engaged/ and I hope you wish us well. Neil” I will be drinking some Red Red Wine in honor of his news!
BTW so who does the man that most people would love have sing at their wedding find to sing at his???
Neil Diamond was performing You’ll Be a Woman Soon in Birmingham and he sang his song sung blue to one woman only. Half way through the song he kissed her, and when I say kissed her, I mean kissssssssssed her! But it didn’t stop there because when the song ended he gave her another :30 second lip lock that had all us thinking he will make her his woman soon and he’ll be a man soon!!! After the second smooch, he fell to the ground and asked if he was in heaven. He then went on to talk to other females in the audience and returned to flirting with his new woman soon. I know I wish I was that woman because there is something just so sexy about him.
Now back to the lucky audience member, I wonder if he brought her back to his dressing room after the show, gave her some Red Red Wine and then brought her flowers the next day?
BTW according to Daily Mail some of the audience members were upset over the make out sessions, but I thought it was so awwwdorable and I am sure it made several real fans days. It really proves why the Rock and Roll of Famer has stood the test of time.
UPDATE: Since the longer video was sadly pulled from YouTube, here is a shorter one with just the two kisses.
