Young Sheldon is going to be Old Sheldon at this rate

CBS

CBS announced today that it picked up Young Sheldon for three more seasons. That means that Iain Armitage, who plays Sheldon, will be 15 at the end of this renewal and a college junior on the sitcom. That is if he doesn’t skip a grade and go for his master’s degree. I don’t know all of the details of Sheldon’s life between Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory. His character would, but I am not a brainiac like him.

Young Sheldon is currently airing its 4th season. Its season finale will air on May 13th.

Mom will be saying goodbye in May
February 17th, 2021 under Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

Earlier today, CBS picked up their Monday comedies for another season. Now, they announced that Mom will not be back for a ninth one.

“For the past eight years, we’ve had the great honor to bring these wonderful characters to life, sharing their struggles and triumphs with millions of viewers every week,” said executive producers Lorre, Gemma Baker and Nick Bakay. “From the beginning, we set out to tell stories about recovery from alcoholism and addiction that are rarely portrayed in a network comedy series. Whether it was the emotional reactions of the live audience on tape night inside Stage 20, or discussions at The White House regarding the opioid crisis, or the personal stories we continue to receive on social media, we take great pride in knowing Mom has positively impacted so many lives. We are forever grateful to our brilliant cast and guest stars, wonderful writers, and amazing crew for going on this journey with us.”

A journey that hit a bump in the road when Anna Faris told producers over the summer that she would not be returning to the show this season. I guess with her abandoning ship and the show getting more expensive to produce, CBS felt now was the right time for the show to reach its 12th step.

The series also stars Allison Janney. I am sure the actress, who won an Oscar, will be OK, since she will have more time to make movies.

CBS is still laughing on Mondays

CBS announced today that they are bringing back its Monday night comedies, The Neighborhood for a fourth season and Bob ♥ Abishola for a third one.

“We’re extremely proud of these two comedies, and delighted to bring them back next season,” said Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Entertainment. “THE NEIGHBORHOOD and BOB ♥ ABISHOLA masterfully blend humor with relatable and culturally relevant storylines, and are tremendous, successful Monday night anchors.”

Now that CBS is bringing back Bob, I hope that they also bring back the song and dance numbers. That episode was so special because of the two group dances. We need more of that on television. And don’t tell me that is what Dancing with the Stars is all about. I ain’t doing Tyra.

Bob Hearts Abishola finds its funk

Last night, Bob Hearts Abishola delivered its best episode to date. It started and ended with a song and dance number.

While I could not find the first one online, it is OK, because the closing one was even better. They ended the CBS sitcom with Bob dancing to Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk with his co-workers. Who knew Billy Gardell could move like that?

I enjoyed these numbers so much, I hope they could be part of every episode from now on. Why not? Other shows do it!

This is not the first time Chuck Lorre has done this on one of his shows. He did an epic one with his Netflix pot comedy Disjointed. He is so good at it; I think the former musician should do a musical show. Can someone tell him I said to do that?

Allison Janney went grey?
September 14th, 2020 under Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

Jane Fonda went grey. Sharon Osbune did it too. As did Dancing with the Stars’ Bruno Tonioli. Now it looks like Allison Janney is the latest member of the club.

The actress shared a video of herself on the set of Mom today, and her hair was not its normal red. Instead, it is grey. Will it stay that way, or will the studio heads wig out? We will find out whenever the show comes back.

If she keeps it, then that will be one of the many changes for the sitcom. The biggest being that Anna Faris, who plys her daughter, has quit the show after seven seasons to “pursue new opportunities.

Another change is one we won’t see. That is all the new restrictions because of the coronavirus pandemic. Things like masks and getting tested all the time.

That is a lot of changes, but one thing that won’t change is how funny it is.
